Reflecting on Autumn Equinox… One thing I love about trees in autumn is that they don’t simply drop their leaves.
First, they draw the nutrients inward and carry that energy down into their roots. Then they allow the leaves to fall.
That feels like an important distinction.
Releasing doesn’t mean pretending something didn’t matter. We can gather what it gave us, integrate what we learned, and then let its old form fall away.
The photos in this carousel come from different seasons of my own life:

🐸 A friendly toad sitting among the fallen leaves at our home in Austin
🐱 Salvador and me on the couch
🌲 Me practicing tree pose beside a giant sequoia during a solo trip to Sequoia National Park in September 2018.
Looking through them reminded me how many seasons one life can hold.
What are you carrying forward from this year…and what are you ready to release?
