Founded in 2014, CATCH Global Foundation is a nonprofit whose evidence-based programs and digital platform support over 15,000 schools in all 50 U.S. states, 35 countries, reaching more than 4 million children annually. CATCH delivers comprehensive health programs spanning: mental well-being, physical and health education, social-emotional learning, oral health, vaping prevention, and more. Rooted in Social Cognitive Theory, CATCH focuses on fostering environments that build students’ foundational health knowledge and attitudes while developing their self-efficacy through consistent skill practice and real-world application. CATCH offers both in-person and virtual professional development to equip educators, public health professionals, and community partners with the skills to implement and sustain lasting impact.

We've mentioned CATCH's Health Ed Journeys program for K-8 is being redeveloped to be fully skills-based. Here's a deeper look at why this shift is so exciting. What does it really take to build a healthier school community? 💙 This year reminds us that curriculum is only the beginning.

CATCH is redeveloping Health Ed Journeys! Research has proven that skill development surpasses knowledge acquisition in leading to long-term health behavior adoption. In order to better support educators in engaging students in health education, our team is focused on making the program entirely skills-based with lessons aligned to National Health Education Standards.

Partners like Beatrice Mayes Institute fill our cup. With a shared belief in the power of community collaboration and the important work educators do every day, transforming a school's culture to prioritize health and well-being is possible.

Our work here is a part of a larger philanthropic opportunity available to K-8 educators in California, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, and Texas. We are delivering evidence-based, standard-aligned resources and professional development to build Tier 1 support for mental health into the school environment.

Notably, after PD sessions, 100% of surveyed teachers felt either confident or very confident in their ability to implement what they learned in the classroom, with several mentioning how our trainers created a comfortable and fun environment with their encouragement and wealth of knowledge.

Michelle Rawcliffe, CATCH's Curriculum & Content Manager has been accomplishing a lot! A big congratulations to her on being named Chair of the SHAPE Health Education Council. This appointment is a testament to her deep expertise in PreK-12 health education and her commitment to advancing initiatives at a national level. Additionally, she and other members of the council have been published in Taylor & Francis Online. Recently, a study on nicotine-based e-cigarettes was published concluding they are likely carcinogenic to humans causing an unquantified risk of oral cancer and lung cancer.

This review stands out because it reveals direct physiological evidence of exposure using biomarkers, making the connection between e-cigarettes and cancer stronger than ever. While long-term studies are still needed for absolute certainty on cancer, we are certain of the immediate harms
