For the first time, women now make up the majority of DOs practicing in primary care, accounting for 50.2% of the osteopathic primary care workforce.
The AOA’s 2026 Osteopathic Medical Profession Report also shows continued growth across the profession, including record osteopathic medical school enrollment and growth in the number of DOs in every state and Washington, D.C.
