We apologize to our sweet community dog Bruno for being a day late to celebrate National Dog Day! He was busy at a very important Quality in Long-Term Care Conference - the doggie edition. 🥰

There, he learned never to accept more than two treats a day, to not jump into someone's lap unless invited, and to always chew with his mouth closed (we're still working on that one!) ❤️

Bruno is happy to just show up each morning and provide joy to each person he encounters. Because caring for seniors isn't always about having the perfect words.

Sometimes it's about showing up, sitting beside someone, listening to their stories—and offering a warm nose, a soft coat, and a tail that never gets tired of saying:

I'm happy to see you.

Oh, what a night! We had a groovy time at our Disco Fever Party last night.🤩To see our residents get up and dance, and do the limbo again, made our hearts sing! 🕺 We all agreed that this was one of our best parties ever! 🪩 Thank you to our funky DJ and for Jeanie and her crew for a 70's inspired spread. ☮ Stay tuned as we trade in the glitz and glamour of the mirror ball for a more relaxed trailer park theme in September. 👀 More to come!

This month, a few of us got to celebrate our 5 year anniversary with Journeyman/JCI Senior Living! It was wonderful to be recognized by the corporate office here in Austin and our peers at the community. Tammy is an incredible medication aide that knows each of her residents so well, she is close not only with the residents but with their family members as well. Mary Jane is always available to lend a hand. Residents request her by name. She is goofy, and loving with the kindest heart. Sarah has been here since the very beginning in March 2020. Starting with one resident, Virginia, who we are honored to still have living here today. 🥰🥂🎊

Melissa and I were absolutely spoiled by our special resident, Karen, when she had us over for lunch this week. Karen grew up in Laredo, where she learned to make the best Mexican food. From chicken enchiladas to Mexican rice, charro beans, and homemade guacamole, oh, and don't forget the flan for dessert! We were pleasantly stuffed and enjoyed the time getting to visit and learn more about Karen's life and family. Thank you, Karen! ❤️
