Last Friday, the Biannual Central Texas Eating Disorder Specialists (CTEDS) Conference was held at UT Austin. 💛

CTEDS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making recovery possible through education, support, and assistance for the complex mental, emotional, and physical challenges associated with disordered eating.

Thank you to our keynote speaker, Dr. Sabrina Strings, for such an informative and important conversation. 🎉👏

It was a great day filled with learning, connection, and collaboration. We’re so thankful to all of our amazing speakers and attendees! ✨

As summer approaches, you may be feeling an increased pressure to change your body. From friends, family, or social media, diet culture messaging tends to get even louder this time of year reinforcing the idea that you need to control or fix your body for it to be “summer ready.” ☀️

If you are struggling with an eating disorder, this messaging is especially harmful, because it validates the lie your eating disorder tells you that you need to shrink yourself to feel worthy. 💛

This is your reminder that your body does not need fixing. It deserves care, nourishment, and respect. You deserve a summer filled with laughter, connection, and making memories. Do not let your eating disorder take away the fun and carefree moments you deserve to experience this summer. 🫶

Something I hear often from clients is, “If I just lose a little more weight or reach this number, my eating disorder voice won’t be so loud.” 💭

What I remind them of is that this is the dangling carrot the eating disorder uses to keep them feeling trapped. 🥕 It convinces them that once they reach a certain goal, they’ll be free from the food rules and negative self-talk and finally able to relax. But when they get there, the goalpost moves again!

If you have been on this rollercoaster before or are currently on it, you know how exhausting it is.

The truth is the eating disorder will never truly be satisfied. The good news is that recovery isn’t found in chasing another number, it’s found in reconnecting with the parts of life that bring you joy, meaning, freedom, and peace. ✨🌿🤍

There is a life outside of your eating disorder, and you deserve to live it to the fullest. 🤍

Our owner, Maggie Stenson, MCN, RD, LD, CEDS-C, had the pleasure of attending the open house yesterday! ✨ It was a great opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces in the Austin eating disorder community and celebrate the incredible network of compassionate, highly skilled clinicians serving our area. 🤍 We’re so grateful to be part of such a supportive and thriving community.

Empowered is a locally owned eating disorder intensive outpatient program created to serve adults seeking a more intimate, clinician-designed treatment model. 🌿 Their program focuses not only on healing behaviors around food, but also addressing the underlying factors that contribute to those behaviors. We’re honored to spotlight organizations making a meaningful impact in our community. 💛

We are so excited to share that our owner, Maggie Stenson, MCN, RD, LD, CEDS-C, was featured in the January edition of Georgetown Neighbors magazine! ✨

Georgetown Neighbors, a publication by Best Version Media, highlights the people, stories, and local businesses that make our community so special. Each month, the magazine is delivered to homes across Georgetown to help connect neighbors and celebrate what’s happening around town.

In the feature, Maggie talks about launching ATX Nutritional Counseling and the passion that drives her work supporting individuals and families in eating disorder recovery.

The article reflects on both the personal and professional journey that brought Maggie to Georgetown, from building a private practice rooted in compassionate care to creating a home with Marcus and their two cats. We’re so grateful to be part of such a supportive and welcoming community. 💛

Our owner, Maggie Stenson, MCN, RD, LD, CEDS-C, serves on the Central Texas Eating Disorder Specialists (CTEDS) Board as the Education Chair. In this role, she oversees the planning and coordination of monthly educational meetings and special events.

This past Friday, .atx hosted their monthly meeting featuring guest speaker, Dr. Michael Lutter, who discussed the role that genetic mutations can play in increasing the risk of developing an eating disorder. 🧬

Dr. Lutter and Maggie were colleagues at from 2017-2019, making us especially grateful for the opportunity to see how he’s continuing to push eating disorder care forward. ✨

As March begins, we are looking back at some of our favorite meals we have made over the month of February.

We know meal planning isn’t always easy, but our hope is that these ideas spark a little inspiration and help make planning feel simpler and more doable this week! 🍲🍽️🍛

As February comes to a close, we are looking back at some of our favorite meals we have made this month. We know meal planning isn’t always easy. Balancing different taste preferences, ever-changing schedules, and plain old decision fatigue can take the joy out of figuring out what’s for dinner....
