This is a little long, but here is the latest takeaway regarding during this pandemic. Watch the video if you have time.
Important new highlights for the tl:dr crowd:
1- Eating high fructose corn syrup (not fruit) deactivates vitamin d in your body to the inactive form making it useless even if you have it at adequate levels.
2 - Treating people who already have covid with a more processed version of vitamin d is improving survival chances greatly.
3 - If you are obese which for this video is defined as more than 30% over your ideal weight for height, you may need to take 1.5-3x the normal amount I get caught up. I certainly knew about extra adipose tissue being an issue and often urged my heavier clients to take 5000 IU -10k IU daily but even this is not enough. The author of the video takes 5000 IU but is normal weight, light skinned and lives in southern California. He is suggesting if you are very overweight to start with 10-15k IU. Again you need to have your levels measured at least 1x a year to make sure you aren't taking too much.
