POV: You thought you were just supporting one of your favorite Pilates instructors… then suddenly, you’re sweating through class with a room full of 20-something influencers and learning a little more about yourself 😂💗

Turns out, growth happens outside your comfort zone.

Alex is such an inspiration, and her app, Anyday, makes barre, Pilates + strength training feel accessible—no intimidating studio required, just your living room.

And honestly, Pilates is basically therapy:
you love your instructor,
you kind of hate your instructor,
things get messy,
you want to quit…
but somehow, you leave feeling stronger than when you started.

Keep showing up for yourself. That’s the whole thing. ✨

After several months of caregivers reaching out about it their daughters anxiety, we are hearing more and more depression symptoms, girls laying awake at night really doubting themselves, asking if the world would be better without them. We are here to remind you, you do matter and the world needs you! We like to tell our clients that symptoms of anxiety and depression are like besties hangin out together….one can be loud while the other can be quiet.

A peek into our 7th/8th grade glow girl group and today’s lesson is on Marble Jar Friends. This is a great concept for explaining the behaviors that we want and even some stories about what we don’t want!

Tomorrow, October 10th, is Period Action Day. Getting products into school bathrooms matters, and if you can drop a box of pads at your daughter’s school, do it. Don’t skip the elementary school. Girls are getting their periods earlier now. I got mine in fifth grade, before my older sister, and nobody in my house saw it coming. Least of all me.

But the thing that helps your daughter most doesn’t happen at school. It happens in your kitchen. Start talking about periods earlier than you think you need to. Keep the pads next to the toothpaste, not hidden in the back of a drawer. When she tells you she bled through her leggings in fourth period, say “ugh, I’ve been there,” and help her make a plan for next time.

Allie and I wrote all about it on the blog. Link in bio. 💗

Happy Period Action Day. Go buy some pads and leave them somewhere obvious.

POV: you made it to fall break and your social battery is on 1%. 🔋
Plan: blanket, snacks, zero plans. Recharging in progress.
Parents, take note. Six weeks of early alarms, group chats, tests, and holding it together all day adds up. This week, let her sleep in. Let her do nothing on purpose. Snacks count as self-care. (For you too.)
And if her battery has been draining faster than it should lately, we’ve got openings with our therapists this fall. Link in bio. 💗

On Wednesdays we wear pink. 💖 And in October, we wear it for something bigger: Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Thanks to The New York Times Games for today’s Strands reminder. Pink isn’t just a color, it’s an attitude. Wear it today, and every day.

This article turned one year old today and I am still thinking about the mom who called me a “see you next Tuesday” in the comments. 👋🏼

Hi. I’m Shayna. I’ve been a therapist for 30 years. I don’t think bullying doesn’t exist.

I think the STORY we tell about girls — that they’re just mean, it’s just what they do — is worth questioning.

That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
