“ONE MORE DAY”..use this mantra for as long as it takes.
•
Mental illness doesn’t always spawn out of developmental trauma, or from monumental disasters or atrocities later in life.
It can show up for no obvious “reason” at all.
•
It doesn’t only present itself as the stereotypical “disheveled” person under the covers, unable to take care of themselves.
It can also look like the seemingly high functioning CEO, successful speaker onstage, friendly neighbour, or your child.
Just because someone is able to hide it, doesn’t mean it’s not heavy.
•
Mental illness has no profile or agenda.
It can manifest in any one of us, for any reason, at any time, for as long as it takes.
It’s a continuum.
•
This doesn’t mean we’re broken.
It means we’re HUMAN.
•
During depressive episodes, suicidal thoughts are more common than many people know, but should not be taken lightly.
•
If you are fantasizing about death or wishing for severe illness, please reach out to someone you trust for help.
If you’re not sure who to trust, call the Su***de Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK (8255) for 24hr service.

If you know someone struggling with mental illness, REMEMBER it is not your job to “fix” them.
Your only job is to attune to them and meet them where they are at, not where you wish they were at.
Show them they are seen, heard, not alone and that their lives matter.
Then immediately assist them in finding a professional who is qualified to help them further.

•
EDUCATE yourself on mental health to support yourself and your loved ones.
KEEP TALKING to end the stigma.
LISTEN so those who have the courage to talk feel connection.
•
Above all else, remember you are resilient and strong enough to continue facing ONE MORE DAY, every day, for as long as it takes.
We are worthy. We are enough. We belong here.
