Happy 24th anniversary to us. What the two of us built still echoes through my life, through our boys, through the counselor I’ve become, and through the way I love people today. I will always remember Maui 🌺

When they’re little, you wrestle because it’s fun. Then one day they’re 15… then 18… then 21.

Somewhere along the way, they get bigger, stronger, and suddenly you realize you’re not going to win the physical battle anymore. 😂

But maybe growing up isn’t about who wins.

As our kiddos become adults, we’re both learning how to “wrestle” in a different way. The challenge isn’t pinning each other to the floor anymore. It’s figuring out how to stay connected while respecting that they’re adults… while also honoring that we’ll always be their parents.

Relationships evolve. Sometimes they’re easy. Sometimes they’re messy. Sometimes they stretch us in ways we never expected. 😮‍💨

Years from now, I don’t think this video will remind either of us of whatever disagreement we happened to be navigating at the time. I think it’ll remind us that, at 21 years old, he still let his mom tackle him on his birthday.🥰

And that’s pretty beautiful.

Now… would I win today? Absolutely not. 😅

But I still have the psychological advantage.

Every mom has at least one embarrassing story she’s keeping in her back pocket. 😉

Happy 21st birthday, Miles. I love you more than you’ll ever know. ❤️

I have a theory… Everyone needs a place where the noise gets a little quieter. Somewhere along the way, I realized peace isn't just something we talk about. It's something we practice.

For me, that practice often looks like water, sunshine, and laughter... For others it’s the gym, it’s a trail, a porch, a garden, a boat, or even music.

Mine has always been water.

It’s where my shoulders drop. Where my thoughts slow down... (and yes, maybe even an unnecessary slow-motion hair flip. 😉) Where I remember that rest isn’t something I have to earn.

So now I’m curious… Where’s the place that helps you remember yourself?

We spend so much time trying to avoid discomfort. The difficult conversation…. The grief…. The uncertainty…. The fear. But often the very thing we’re resisting is where growth is waiting.

What if the goal isn’t to get around it? What if the invitation is to walk through it?

In reality, therapy is just a space where you get to be honest about the things you’ve been carrying and learn healthier ways to move through life.
