Pride Month is a celebration of identity, authenticity, resilience, and community 🌈

At Discovery Counseling Austin, we believe everyone deserves a space where they feel safe, affirmed, and fully seen for who they are. We know that for many in the LGBTQIA+ community, mental health support can feel especially important when navigating identity exploration, relationships, family dynamics, discrimination, or simply the weight of existing in a world that doesn’t always make room for authenticity.

Our practice is committed to providing compassionate, LGBTQIA+ affirming care where clients can show up exactly as they are; without judgment. Whether you’re seeking support, healing, self-discovery, or connection, you do not have to navigate it alone.

This month and every month, we celebrate Pride and stand alongside the LGBTQIA+ community.

This is what therapy can look like: having a space to untangle your thoughts, process your emotions, and feel supported while making sense of it all.

Therapy isn’t about having all the answers right away. Sometimes, it’s simply having a space where you can slow down, sort through the noise, and begin to understand yourself a little more clearly.

This is what therapy can really look like: support, reflection, vulnerability, growth, and someone sitting beside you while you navigate it all.

You don’t have to carry everything alone.

We’re so excited to welcome Charissa Gregg to Discovery Counseling Austin as one of our summer interns ☀️

Charissa is passionate about supporting clients through life transitions, relationship and attachment challenges, and family dynamics. She is also LGBTQIA2S+ affirming and brings a compassionate, thoughtful presence to the therapy space. 💛

At Discovery, we love helping future clinicians grow into the kind of therapists who make people feel deeply seen, supported, and understood, and we’re so happy to have Charissa on our team this summer!

When your mind starts spiraling, sometimes you don’t need a perfect solution, just a grounding reminder.

A few words can help bring you back to the present:
✨ “This feeling will pass.”
✨ “Thoughts are not facts.”
✨ “One step at a time.”
✨ “Breathe first, figure it out later.”

Save this for the hard moments, or send it to someone who may need it today. 🌿

Healing doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it looks like learning to trust yourself again, setting boundaries, feeling your feelings, or finally realizing you deserve support too.

Kaylyn offers an affirming, trauma-informed space for teens and adults navigating anxiety, relationships, identity exploration, and healing from difficult experiences.

Therapy isn’t about becoming someone new, it’s about feeling more connected to who you already are.

Many people were taught that boundaries are harsh, selfish, or a sign of rejection.

But boundaries are often the very thing that make healthy connection possible.

They help relationships hold honesty, respect, and sustainability.

If setting limits feels guilty or uncomfortable, it may not mean you’re doing something wrong.

It may mean you’re doing something new.

A lot of people wait until things feel unbearable before reaching out.

They tell themselves:
“It’s not bad enough yet.”
“Other people have it worse.”
“I should be able to handle this.”

But pain does not need to become a crisis before it matters.

You are allowed to seek support when you feel disconnected, overwhelmed, anxious, numb, stuck, lonely, or simply tired of carrying everything alone.

Healing does not have to begin at your lowest point.

Sometimes it begins the moment you let help in.

Body image healing is often misunderstood.

You do not need to feel confident, beautiful, or “in love” with your body every day to be making progress.

Sometimes progress is quieter than that.

It looks like less obsession.
Less punishment.
Less comparison.
More space in your mind for your actual life.

If loving your body feels far away right now, start smaller.

Respect. Neutrality. Care. Compassion.

That still counts.

Healing is often quiet. It lives in the tiny moments no one else sees. Progress doesn’t have to be loud to be real. 🌿
