Hips feeling tight after a busy summer?

The wall sit helped wake up the muscles that support your knees. Now let’s move up the chain.

The bowler squat is one of our favorite exercises for building hip strength and control, whether you’re on vacation or recovering once you’re back home.

Here’s how to do it:
• Stand on one leg and lightly hold a wall or countertop for balance
• Reach the opposite leg behind you as you hinge forward at your hip
• Reach toward a target placed just outside your standing foot
• Return to standing and repeat for 2 sets of 10 reps

Keep the movement slow and controlled. The goal is to let your hip do the work, not to see how far you can reach.

Follow along... we’ve got one more exercise coming to help calm sore feet from plantar fasciitis.

If your knees are feeling sore after a summer vacation full of exploring and sightseeing, a simple wall sit can be a great place to start.

Wall sits help activate your quads without putting excessive stress on the knee. When done correctly, they can calm irritated knees while building the strength your knees need to better support you.

Here’s how to do it:
• Slide down a wall into a 45-60 degree squat
• Keep your chest tall and gently press your heels into the floor
• Hold for 20 seconds and repeat 5 times

If your knees could still use a little reset, we’d love to help. Book a visit at the link in our bio and we'll get you back to moving comfortably.

Dr. Steven was able to sneak in a quick trip to Colorado last weekend 🏔️ Hiking, swimming under waterfalls, and soaking up the mountain air with friends and family. A short trip meant he was in and out before anything had a chance to get achy, but not every vacation is a quick weekend away.

We often see people come home from longer trips with sore feet, aching knees, or cranky hips after several days of sightseeing, hiking, or simply spending more time on their feet than they're used to. Add in time away from your normal routine, and it's one of the most common patterns we see this time of year. We call it "Vacation Overuse Syndrome."

The good news is there are plenty of simple ways to stack the odds in your favor, even if your trip is already booked. What you pack, how you recover after long days on your feet, and what you do once you're back home can all make a difference in how your body feels during and after your vacation.

That's exactly what we cover in this month's newsletter, along with practical tips for managing vacation-related plantar fasciitis, knee pain, and hip pain. If you enjoy practical tips like these (or the occasional story of what we’ve been up to lately), send us a DM and we'll get you signed up for our newsletter.

In the meantime... where did your summer adventures take you?

Tennis elbow recovery doesn't have to be complicated 🎾

If you've ever been handed one of these little red FlexBars, you know they can be surprisingly confusing to use correctly. While they can absolutely be an effective tool, we've found ourselves recommending these wrist rollers more often.

Why? They;re simple, intuitive, and make it easier to target the muscles we're actually trying to strengthen during tennis elbow rehab. Less guesswork. More confidence that you're doing the exercise as intended.

If you're curious which wrist roller we recommend, send us a DM. We're happy to share the link and help you get started.

And if tennis elbow has been keeping you from playing or training the way you'd like, book an evaluation at the link in our bio. We'd love to help you find the right plan to get you moving again.

You don't have to stretch far when doing sciatic nerve sliders.

One of the most common questions we get with nerve flossing is how far you should push the movement. More stretch doesn't mean better results.

Nerve flossing should create only a gentle first perception of tension. Pushing into a deep stretch can irritate an already sensitive sciatic nerve instead of helping it move the way it's designed to.

If your sciatica isn't improving, or you're not sure you're doing your nerve glides correctly, don't hesitate to ask. We'd be happy to answer your questions and help you move past your sciatic nerve pain.

Check out the linked video for more tips on understanding and managing sciatic nerve pain.

Slow down your sciatic nerve sliders.

One of the most common mistakes we see with sciatic nerve sliders is moving through them too quickly. More speed doesn't mean better results.

Nerve flossing should be slow, controlled, and comfortable. Rushing the movement can irritate an already sensitive sciatic nerve instead of helping it move the way it's designed to.

If your sciatica isn't improving, or you're not sure you're doing your nerve glides correctly, don't hesitate to ask. We'd be happy to answer your questions and help you move past your sciatic nerve pain.

The past two years have been full of change, growth, and milestones worth celebrating. But the heart of InMotion has stayed the same.

When Dr. Steven opened InMotion Sport & Spine, the goal was simple: help people, build meaningful relationships, and add to the community. That vision hasn't changed.

Whether it's watching someone return to the activities they love or connecting with our others beyond the clinic, those relationships are what make every day worthwhile.

As we celebrate two years of InMotion, we continue to look back on the moments, lessons, and people who have shaped our journey.

Want to hear more? DM us to join our newsletter for the thoughts we couldn't fit in a few posts or stories.

Later this week, we'll be celebrating InMotion Sport & Spine's second anniversary, and we couldn't let the milestone pass without first saying thank you.

Whether you've trusted us with your recovery, your performance goals, or simply recommended us to a friend, you've helped shape InMotion Sport & Spine into what it is today. We truly wouldn't be here without you.

Over the next few days, we'll be sharing some behind-the-scenes moments from the past two years. It's a chance to look back at how far we've come, reflect on the experiences that have shaped our practice, and celebrate our community.

Here's to two years of helping people move better, feel better, and keep doing what they love!

Playing through pain, ignoring nagging injuries, or hoping something “just goes away” can keep you from doing what you love.

Recovery starts with understanding the problem. That’s why we take the time to listen, assess your movement, and build a plan around your body and goals. Whether that means manual therapy, dry needling, or even movement technology, we focus on finding what actually helps you move better.

Now back to the court, who are you rooting for to win it all?
