I’ve been quiet on here lately.

Not because I don’t have anything to say, but because I’ve been quietly reinventing myself.

For the past 2 years, my entire identity has been my cancer diagnosis. Chemotherapy. Oncology appointments. Losing my hair. Becoming a version of myself I didn’t recognize.

I started drinking every day to numb the pain. I fell into the worst postpartum depression. I completely lost myself. All while looking into the eyes of my 2 greatest blessings. How could I lose sight of God’s most precious gift? Something had to change.

So I went quiet. Shut down. Healed in silence. Prioritized my mental health.

We have one precious life and our time here is not promised. I want my kids to remember me as the mom who loved hard, and lived this life fully. For them. For me. And for my husband.

Here’s to finally living. Not just surviving 🙏🏼

I rang the bell. 🔔

On this day, I rang “the bell”, not because the journey is over, but because a chapter that once felt impossible to survive has come to an end.

When I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer, I was also carrying a tiny life inside of me.

While navigating scans, appointments, surgeries, fear, and countless unknowns, I was simultaneously growing a baby boy.

Two realities existed at once:
A body fighting cancer.
A body creating life.

There were days I wondered how I would make it through. Days when the weight of uncertainty felt unbearable. Days when I had no choice but to surrender my fears to God and trust Him with what I could not control.

And then, in the middle of the storm, our son was born.

A reminder that even in the darkest seasons, God is still in the business of creating miracles.

As I rang that bell after my final chemotherapy treatment, I wasn’t celebrating victory over cancer alone.

I was celebrating every prayer whispered through tears.
Every appointment.
Every infusion.
Every scar.
Every person who carried us when we couldn’t carry ourselves.

I was celebrating the little boy who gave me another reason to keep fighting.

Most of all, I was celebrating God’s faithfulness.

Because there were moments I couldn’t see the way forward, but He could.

Cancer changed me.
Motherhood changed me.
This journey changed me.

And while I wouldn’t have chosen this path, I can see now that even here, there was beauty.
There was purpose.
There was grace.

I ring the bell with a grateful heart, stronger faith, and a deeper understanding that miracles don’t always look the way we expect them to.

Sometimes they look like a newborn baby’s cry in the middle of a cancer battle.

Sometimes they look like making it to the end of treatment.

And sometimes they sound like a bell ringing down a hospital hallway. 🔔🤍

Four years ago today, I held my son for the first and last time. 🩵

There are no words that can fully capture the ache of missing someone you’ve loved so deeply, yet had so little time with. And still, four years later, his life continues to shape mine in ways I never could have imagined.

There are days when it still feels impossible that four years have passed. Four years of wondering who you would have become. Four years of yearning for your smile, your voice, your presence. Four years of learning that grief and gratitude can coexist in the same heart.

But God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, has shown us that even in the deepest valleys, He is still writing a beautiful story.

Though we never got to watch you grow up here on earth, your life changed us forever. Your legacy lives on in our family, in our faith, and in the way we love.

And in the years since you left for heaven, God blessed us with your little brother—a precious reminder that joy and sorrow are not opposites, but companions on this journey of faith. While our arms still ache for you, they have also been filled again. What a sacred gift that is.

I often imagine you watching over him. Maybe teaching him things only heaven knows. Maybe cheering him on as he grows into the little boy we have the privilege of raising.

Today, we celebrate your 4th heavenly birthday.

We celebrate the son who taught us to trust God when our hearts were shattered.
The son who showed us that love does not end when a life on earth does.

You are loved beyond measure.
You are missed beyond words.
And you are remembered every single day.

Until the day God reunites us, we will keep speaking your name, sharing your story, and carrying your light with us.

Happy 4th Heavenly Birthday, sweet boy. 🤍

“For this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide even to the end.” — Psalm 48:14
