You shouldn't have to educate your therapist. That's not your job — it's theirs.
A lot of LGBTQIA+ folks put off therapy for exactly this reason: the fear of walking in and becoming a lesson — explaining your pronouns, your partner, your history before anyone even asks what hurts. Affirming care looks different. Your name and pronouns are used without ceremony. Your identity is treated as context, not diagnosis. And the anxiety, depression, or numbness you're carrying gets taken seriously on its own terms — including how years of staying braced for rejection can live in the body as tension, exhaustion, or dread. You deserve a room where respect is the baseline, so the real work can start.
