Wondering what it’s like to study with us? Our recent Foundations graduate Meghan McCabe shared her experience with us:

“If you’re considering taking Foundations of Herbalism, please listen to what I have to say. Ginger’s class through Sacred Journey School changed my life. Yes, the program is a commitment- of both time and money, but the amount of information presented is enormous. Not only that, but Ginger and Lauren, the secondary teacher, have created and fostered an intentional community over many years. They’ve grown something special- outside of capitalistic, extractive, patriarchal structures.

The classes are highly academic. The information presented is thoughtful, refined, and professionally presented. A strong foundation of general herbalism is taught- including Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, Western Herbalism, and traditional and indigenous wisdom and techniques. The resources offered are respectful, practical, and useful, for the duration of the class as well as for students to be able to reference important information easily in their future herbal endeavors.

The class is also a cultivated heartfelt space where sharing and vulnerability happen. We laugh a lot, we cry a little, and most of all -we open our hearts to the magic of energy shared- with each other, with the plants, and with this beautiful planet.

I knew very little about herbalism going in to the class, and now I can name many plants around me and their uses. I make tinctures, teas, and salves and have a growing homemade apothecary. I feel confident in my ability to synthesize the Knowledge gained into practice.

I also made friends and had nothing but lovely experiences exploring the plant life of central Texas. My direction in life is very much now on the Plant Path, and I am already using the knowledge gained through Sacred Journey to help myself and my community.”

🌿I (Lauren) was able to visit and harvest from this beautiful sage plant again this year- she is tended by a local gardener friend and is truly the largest and happiest garden sage I’ve ever met! I mentioned this to the gardener and she said it was a plant from her mother’s funeral that she took home and planted 🥹 What a gift to make medicine with this special sage!
I am primarily drying what I harvested to include in our Foundations of Herbalism herbal goodie boxes- so over 44+ new herbies will be making tea from her leaves in the coming months. It’s always a treat to know the stories behind the plants that we harvest and make medicine with 💚💚💚

Just a reminder that this is the 15th and final year that Ginger Webb Sacred Journey School of Herbalism will be offering the 185 hour/9 month Foundations of Herbalism course in its current format. ✨💛✨ What does 9 months in herb school look like? 💛✨

Here is a little taste of moment from our 2025 - 26 session of Foundations of Herbalism, the primary class taught by Ginger Webb with assistance from White Deer Apothecary Lauren Peterson and amazing teaching apprentices. It’s hard to fit into words how life changing getting to know the plants truly is…and the community that is formed each session is such a gift. If you’re looking for ways to connect with the medicinal plants and people around you- join us!! We still have a few spots left for this 15th and final year of the program before it transforms into something new. Register by 7/31 (payment plans and reparations scholarships are still available).
