1. You can only make decisions based on what you know. Sometimes you don’t need more motivation. You need exposure to possibilities you didn’t know existed.
2. Your upbringing influences you, but it doesn’t have to define you. You can appreciate where you come from while choosing a different path for yourself.
3. Not every community will serve the same purpose. Some spaces will encourage you, others will challenge you, and some will introduce you to opportunities you never considered.
4. You don’t have to experience everything firsthand to learn from it. Mentorship allows you to gain wisdom from someone else’s experiences while making decisions for yourself.
5. Being independent doesn’t mean doing everything alone. Knowing when to ask for help, seek guidance, or use available resources is a strength.
6. You can be grateful for what you have and still desire more. Wanting to grow doesn’t mean you’re unappreciative of where you are.
7. You cannot define success for yourself if you’ve never questioned who defined it for you. Take time to ask whether the life you’re pursuing reflects your own values, desires, and priorities.
8. Being in the right room doesn’t mean you have to look, think, or act like everyone in it. You belong in spaces where you can learn, contribute, and remain authentic.
9. Access to opportunities matters, but so does knowing what to do with them. Ask questions, build relationships, and be willing to learn something unfamiliar.
10. You may become the example you once needed. The experiences, knowledge, and opportunities you gain can create possibilities for another woman.
Now, let’s talk about #7. 👀
Have you ever stopped to ask yourself whether your definition of success is actually yours, or one you inherited from someone else?
