Speaking from his experience as a family physician based in Alpine, Texas, TMA member Adrian Billings, MD, testified before the House Public Health Committee on strategies for improving access to health care in rural communities. A member of the TMA Council on Legislation, Dr. Billings explained how medical students who have lived and trained in rural areas are more likely to remain and practice in those areas.
