Every lip filler journey is unique, but one thing remains the same: proper injection technique is essential for achieving beautiful, natural-looking results.
This patient originally had lip filler done at our clinic a few years ago. Since she now lives in another state, she later received additional filler from a different provider. Unfortunately, the filler was placed above the natural lip border, creating what is commonly known as a “hyaluronic mustache”—a sign of filler migration.
🔬 In cases like this, adding more filler is not the solution.
The safest and most effective approach is to dissolve all of the filler—including the previous filler placed at our clinic—before rebuilding the lips correctly while respecting their natural anatomy.
One of the biggest concerns with filler migration is the formation of fibrotic tissue above the lip border. Although the filler can be dissolved, fibrotic tissue may remain, making correction more challenging. This is why proper injection technique is so important.
📍The reason for this post is simple: over the past two months, we’ve treated five patients with this exact same situation. After receiving additional lip filler elsewhere, the filler migrated above the lip border, requiring a complete dissolve before the lips could be corrected.
