Not everyone learns the same way.

So we didn’t build a training that only works one way.

At Breath Liberation Society, you get live support through weekly Momentum Calls, monthly Practice Teaching Clinics, and community breathwork sessions. You get self-paced learning through the Facilitator’s Playbook and the Apiary Library, 24+ experts across the healing arts, so you can study on your own schedule. And you get written support through individualized Session Review Forms and a direct Ask Chauna channel on Slack, something we’ve genuinely never seen offered in another training.

Whatever your schedule looks like, however you learn best, there’s a way to actually finish this training and become the confident facilitator you’re meant to be.

Enrollment is open.

Let’s not let breathwork’s rapid growth bury the plot.

Breathwork has gotten popular. And popular means it’s starting to come with a look. Microphone headsets, stage lighting, a certain kind of cool.

That’s not the point.

Breathwork is an ancient practice. The point is personal connection. Healing in community. Building a personal foundation with the breath strong enough to share it with others in a heartfelt and honest way.

And let’s be clear... all the growth and awareness is a good thing. It means more people are learning they can use their breath to heal.

But I think we’ve lost the narrative a little. All voices are needed in this work. Not just the extroverted ones, not just the mainstream ones. We also need the introverts. The weirdos. The people who are often overlooked in wellness spaces. Your voice is needed too.

That’s exactly why I founded Breath Liberation Society. We’re changing the face of breathwork, and that starts with getting well-trained, confident facilitators out there offering their gifts. Because someone out there needs your voice specifically.

Drop a 🫁 if this resonates.

If you want to learn how to confidently share the power of breath, join us next week for a FREE training.

This is 44

This calendar year I spent a lot of time with my wife, family and got to hang with lots of the BLS crew 🎉

Met a few of my long time biz friend IRL

I spoke at my first international conference, spent time in the mountains, took about 1000 selfies with my dog Nala and fell in love with barbie memes and “or I choose or” iykyk

Keep your head on a swivel out here in these wellness streets.

Every time I see an ad for a “healer” training that completely ignores systemic racism and tells people they can love and light their way through illness, I cannot help but cringe.

Not all marble countertops, flower crowns, and carefully curated aesthetics are wellness.

And not everyone who talks about healing deserves your trust.

That is all. Carry on.

Summer Sigh starts tomorrow.

Four Sunday mornings. Four short lessons on the parasympathetic nervous system. Four guided meditations exploring the many ways breath can bring you back to rest and digest.

I created this because I needed it. August is a high energy month for me (birthday + BLS open enrollment) and it sometimes feels hard to not redline life. So I am building the thing that helps.

It is free. If you are already on the newsletter it hits your inbox tomorrow at 11am Eastern. If not, link in bio to join us.

And if you want to go deeper, I have a handful of private breathwork sessions open this summer. 75 minutes, $222. CCB, three part breath, or a gentle breath and energy work session.

learn from my experience.

the biggest lie I heard in breathwork training is that…

The universe will only bring you the clients you can help.

I heard this in my very first breathwork training. and I believed it.

I left that training with a certificate, a lot of excitement, and a deeply flawed foundation. and for a while I just trusted that the universe would handle the rest.

it did not.

Since then, I have completed two additional trainings with Transformations USA and Breathing Space, both as part of my pathway to getting Breath Liberation Society globally accredited through the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance.

And what I know now that I did not know then is this.

The people who show up to your sessions did not travel through a magical filter. It’s important to have a clearly communicated statement about who you serve.

Holding space responsibly evolves as we learn more about the human body. This is why I am a forever student. And why I believe every breathwork facilitator should be too.

Not because you are not capable. But because the people who come to you deserve someone who is always learning, always growing, and always honest about what they know and what they do not know.

Without proper training, it is very likely that at some point you will encounter someone who is outside your scope of practice. And there is a real chance that without the right tools you could cause harm. Even with the best intentions.

Be a forever student. Your community is counting on it.

you cannot promise someone they are safe. here is what to say instead.

One of the most common things facilitators say during a breathwork session is “you are safe.” The intention is good. But for a lot of people those words are not reassuring. They are a contradiction of everything their body has learned to be true.

Trauma-informed facilitation means grounding people in what is actually true, not what we hope they will believe.

A few of my favorite ways to do that:

Cue the breath. Name what is physically present. Say what you actually mean instead of “this is a safe space.” Anchor to the present moment with specificity like “it is [time], you are in [location], I am [your name].” credit to Sherri Taylor (not on IG) for sharing this one with me

And if someone needs a little more support, the 5,4,3,2,1 technique is a good one. Five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, one you can taste.

Simple. Honest. Grounding.

What is your go-to grounding technique? Drop it in the comments; I would love to hear how you hold space.

And if you are a facilitator or aspiring facilitator who wants to go deeper on this, the BLS breathwork training waitlist is open. Link in my profile.
