Specialty Pharmacy is more than just filling a prescription. It involves specialized dispensing, patient care management, and financial counseling/assistance. At EFRx we call this our Patient Navigation Process. Specialized Dispensing:

Specialized Pharmacy dispensing involves a complex six sigma dispensing process to minimize errors. From contacting your Healthcare Provider to labeling and packaging your medication, EFRx has redundant processes to catch errors and make sure your medication arrives at the right temperature and with the appropriate supplies. Patient Care Management:

A large part of what separates specialty pharmacy from retail pharmacy is the outcomes that are monitored by the Pharmacist. At EFRx we track your outcomes, hospital visits, doctor visits, medication compliance, side effects, and reactions all so we can tailor the best therapy and recommendations specific for YOU. Financial Counseling/Assistance:

Part of the navigation process is making sure our Patients are aware of their deductibles and copay's. When our Patients are experiencing financial difficulty we help them apply for financial assistance and 99% of the time their burden is lessened or relieved.

World Osteoporosis Day | October 20 🦴

Strong bones are the foundation of a healthy, active life. Osteoporosis is often called a silent disease because it can weaken bones over time without noticeable symptoms—until a fracture occurs.

The good news? There are steps we can take to protect our bone health at every age.
•Stay active: Incorporate weight-bearing activities and strength training.
•Get enough calcium and vitamin D: Support bone strength through balanced nutrition.
•Know your risk factors: Age, family history, certain medications, and chronic health conditions can increase your risk.

Avoid smoking and limit alcohol: Both can negatively affect bone health.
Strong bones. Stronger futures.

October 12–20 is Bone and Joint Health Action Week 🦴

For people living with chronic conditions like hemophilia, arthritis, or other musculoskeletal disorders, joint health is more than mobility, it’s a big part of comfort, independence, and daily quality of life.

Chronic joint pain can affect how you move, rest, and feel day to day, but small, consistent steps may help support joint health:

• Stay active with gentle, joint-friendly movement when possible
• Follow your treatment plan and take medications as prescribed
• Work with your care team or physical therapist on safe ways to move
• Use heat, cold, or rest when recommended to ease discomfort
• Pay attention to swelling, stiffness, or worsening pain and speak up early

Living with joint pain can be challenging, but support, treatment, and proactive care can make a difference.

On World Mental Health Day, it’s worth remembering that mental health conditions are not always obvious. Anxiety can look like irritability. Depression can look like exhaustion. Burnout can look like “just being busy.” And many people continue functioning while quietly struggling.

For people living with chronic illness, mental health is often part of the medical journey too. Ongoing symptoms, treatment schedules, uncertainty, pain, fatigue, and the need to constantly explain what you’re going through can take a real emotional toll. Anxiety, depression, frustration, and isolation may develop alongside the physical condition, even when someone appears to be managing well from the outside.

This year’s theme, “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” is a reminder that better mental health care starts with listening to the people actually living through it.

Today is National Do Something Nice Day: a reminder that small acts of kindness can have a bigger impact than we realize.

Check in on someone who may be having a hard week. Help a neighbor. Thank a caregiver. Offer your time, your patience, or simply your attention.

Kindness doesn’t have to be grand to matter. Sometimes, the smallest gesture is exactly what someone needed that day.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast cancer accounts for about 1 in 3 new cancers diagnosed in women in the U.S.
The good news: decades of research have transformed how breast cancer is detected and treated. Today, treatment can include hormone therapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapy tailored to the specific type of cancer.

For breast cancer that is found while still localized to the breast, the 5-year relative survival rate is over 99%.

That’s why awareness still matters. Know what’s normal for your breasts and watch for:
• A new lump or thickening
• Changes in size or shape
• Dimpling or other skin changes
• Ni**le changes or unusual discharge
• New redness or swelling

If you notice a new or unusual change, speak with your healthcare provider. Self-awareness does not replace recommended mammograms or medical screening.
