I am an autumn person. I love this season—for so many reasons.

🍂The cool, crisp air that feels so refreshing
🍂The beautiful leaves changing color that bring me so much joy
🍂The invitation to slow down, rest, and replenish

One of my favorite things about fall, though, is being able to step outside when I’m having a hot flash. As a woman in her 40s, this is invaluable.

I may look a little crazy standing on my front stoop when it’s in the 30s or 40s wearing a T-shirt, but I don’t care. That cool air feels so good.

Of course, stepping outside offers some relief in the moment.
Getting support for what’s happening in your body can help beyond those few minutes on the front stoop.

East Asian Medicine takes a whole-body approach to understanding these changes, with treatment specific to your body. Acupuncture may help ease hot flashes and night sweats, supporting more restful sleep and helping you feel more comfortable in your body.

If this sounds familiar and you could use some support, you’re welcome to schedule a consultation. We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing and whether this approach would be a good fit for you.

How many treatments will I need?

It’s totally reasonable to want to know how many treatments you’ll need to address whatever it is that brings you in.

Here are some questions I’ll ask to help get a better picture:

🟠How long have you been dealing with this issue?

🟠Do you have an appetite?

🟠Are you eating nutrient-rich foods and drinking plenty of water throughout your day? What we eat provides the building blocks our bodies need to repair and heal.

🟠How are your sleep and energy?
When we sleep, our bodies have time to repair, rebuild, and heal.

🟠Are you having regular bowel movements?
I know we don’t discuss BMs as often in our culture, but in East Asian Medicine, they’re an important part of the conversation. Regular bowel movements help your body eliminate waste.

All of these questions give me information about how well your body is functioning and its ability to heal. They help me recommend a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

If you’ve been dealing with something and could use some support, you’re welcome to schedule a consultation. We’ll talk about what’s going on and what a treatment plan could look like for you.

Permission to Slow Down

Summertime is often filled with busyness—activities, sports, vacations, summer camps, new schedules, BBQs, and get-togethers. It’s the season of fire, joy, fun, and connection.

But we can’t keep that pace all the time.

As we move into fall, our pace and energy naturally begin to slow down.
This is the natural flow of the seasons. When we try to keep that summer busyness and go-go-go rhythm, we can burn ourselves out.

In East Asian Medicine, we understand the seasonal rhythms, and that everything in life has a Yin and Yang component.

Yang is the action, the going, the doing, the productivity—the fire energy.

Yin is the rest, the replenishing, the nourishing—the water energy.

We need a balance of both. Balancing Yin and Yang—rest and activity—is essential to our vitality and longevity.

You have permission to slow down.

You don’t need to feel guilty, defend yourself, or wait until you’re completely depleted before you rest.

If you need some support slowing down, making room for rest, or finding your rhythm again, I’d love to help.

How you care for your skin after microneedling matters, too.
A few simple ways to support yourself during recovery:

🌿Drink water throughout your day.

🌿Include a variety of nutrient-rich foods.

🌿Let your skin rest on treatment day, and follow your aftercare instructions.

🌿When it’s time to resume skincare, use a mild cleanser and the gentle products recommended for you.

🌿Give exfoliants and retinoids a break until you’re advised to restart them.

🌿Avoid direct sun while your skin heals, and use sunscreen.

You don’t need a complicated routine. Gentle, consistent care gives your skin space to recover.

Wondering what your skin might feel like after microneedling?

✨Immediately afterward, your skin may look flushed and feel warm, tight, or mildly sensitive—similar to a mild sunburn.

✨These feelings and the redness typically subside within 24–48 hours, though sometimes the skin needs a little longer.

✨You may also notice some dryness or light flaking as your skin heals.

I usually recommend heading home and taking it easy for the rest of the day.

Many people return to their usual daily activities the next day, while continuing to follow their aftercare instructions.

Everyone’s recovery is a little different.

Microneedling can sound a little intimidating, but it's anything but.

If you’ve been dealing with uneven skin texture, acne scars, or just want that smooth glow, microneedling is a game changer.

The treatment works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin.

As your skin repairs itself, it produces collagen and elastin. Over time, this may help improve texture, soften the appearance of certain scars, and give your complexion a refreshed glow.

In my practice, microneedling is paired with full-body acupuncture because the health of our skin is rooted in whole-body health.

Many people notice a glow after the first couple of sessions, while changes in texture and scarring take more time. I typically recommend a series of four to six treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart.

Curious whether holistic microneedling is right for you? Book a New Patient Consultation, and we can talk through your skin concerns and goals.

Cosmetic acupuncture is about more than how your skin looks. It’s also an opportunity to slow down and care for yourself as a whole person. 🌿

My Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture treatments combine facial acupuncture with full-body acupuncture, facial cupping, and gua sha.

Together, they’re intended to support your complexion while addressing what's going on beneath the surface, including stress, sleep, and overall well-being.

You may notice a refreshed glow after a session.

Changes in skin texture and the appearance of fine lines tend to be gradual, which is why I typically recommend a series of treatments followed by maintenance.

If you’re curious whether this approach is right for you, book a New Patient Consultation from my website: FusariAcupuncture. We’ll talk about your skin goals, your health, and what treatment plan feels like a good fit.

🌿Signs That Digestion May Need Support🌿

When digestion isn’t functioning as well as it could, some people experience bloating, changes in bowel movements, fatigue, sluggishness, brain fog, or a feeling of heaviness in the body.

Because digestion helps the body break down food and absorb the nutrients needed to nourish all of our cells—including our skin cells—digestive issues may also show up in the complexion.

While these symptoms can have many possible causes, they may be signs that digestion—and the body as a whole—could use some support.

In my latest blog, I explore the connection between digestion and healthy skin—and what it means to support your complexion from the inside out.

🌿Healthy Skin Starts with Digestion🌿

While there isn’t one specific diet that works for everyone, East Asian Medicine offers some general guidelines.

Think of the digestive system as a digestive fire—able to break down our food, extract nutrients, and distribute those nutrients throughout the body to nourish all of our cells.

From an East Asian Medicine perspective, this digestive fire may become weakened when we regularly drink cold or iced beverages or eat cold or raw foods.

In general, we want to have warm, cooked foods and room-temperature, warm, or hot beverages to support our digestive fire to function well.

Include a variety of cooked vegetables, proteins, complex carbohydrates, and healthy fats.

This connection between digestion and the complexion is one reason why I incorporate full-body acupuncture into my cosmetic treatments.

Rather than looking at just the skin, we look at how the whole body is functioning—including digestion, sleep, stress, and overall nourishment.

In my upcoming blog, I’ll share more about what digestion has to do with the health of our skin.
