Our residents always enjoy a visit from the incredibly talented Ilya!

From classic American standards to beloved show tunes, Ilya brings a wonderful variety of music to our campus. He performs throughout the Cleveland area at private events, weddings, fundraisers, and more—and while he’s always in demand, we’re grateful that he continues to make time to visit us regularly.

There’s nothing quite like live music to bring people together, and we’re already looking forward to Ilya’s next visit!

Every Friday, our residents give their brains a workout!

At Saint Therese of Avon, Friday mornings are dedicated to strengthening memory, sharpening cognition, and having fun along the way. Just as physical activity helps keep our bodies healthy, engaging our minds is an important part of overall wellness.

Each week brings a new challenge—whether it’s puzzles, word games, trivia, problem-solving activities, or other interactive experiences designed to keep our minds active and engaged. It’s always exciting to see residents encourage one another, celebrate successes, and embrace learning together.

A healthy mind is a powerful thing, and we’re proud to create opportunities that support lifelong learning and cognitive wellness while making every Friday morning something to look forward to.

Nothing says summer quite like a classic root beer float! 🍺🍦

Our campus residents recently gathered for an afternoon of sweet treats, laughter, and great conversation during our Root Beer Float Social. From sharing memories of soda fountains to making new ones together, it was the perfect way to cool off and enjoy each other’s company.

At Saint Therese of Avon, it’s the simple moments of connection that make every day special. Here’s to good friends, great memories, and plenty of ice cream!

What a fantastic Happy Hour this week!

Our residents had the pleasure of welcoming Tim Alcorn, the longtime radio voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers. With decades behind the microphone, Tim has called some of the franchise’s most memorable moments and shared incredible stories from his career, giving everyone a behind-the-scenes look at Cavaliers basketball.

As excitement continues to build for the upcoming NBA season, it was the perfect way to kick things off. With a talented young core, championship aspirations, and another exciting year on the horizon, we can’t wait to cheer on the Wine & Gold together.

A sincere thank you to Tim for spending time with our residents and making the afternoon one to remember. Go Cavs! 🏀❤️💛

There is something special about bringing generations together.

Throughout July, Saint Therese of Avon was blessed to welcome middle and high school students from the Bosco Drexel Summer Youth Mission. These incredible young people joined our residents for Mass, serving as lectors, Eucharistic ministers, and cantors before sharing lunch, conversation, and plenty of smiles with our community.

One of the highlights of the month was watching our Independent Living residents and students create handmade prayer cards together. These heartfelt messages will now be shared with our residents in Skilled Nursing—a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can have a lasting impact.

As highlighted in the recent The Chronicle-Telegram article about local students making a difference this summer, today’s youth are finding meaningful ways to serve their community, and we are honored that Saint Therese of Avon can be part of that journey.

We’re already looking ahead with the Avon Catholic Community and Saint Therese of Avon as we continue to plan trips, service projects, and new opportunities for students and residents to learn from one another throughout the coming year.

At Saint Therese of Avon, we believe the strongest communities are built when generations come together. Thank you to every student, family, volunteer, and parish partner for helping create moments that enrich the lives of our residents and inspire the next generation of servant leaders.

Every Wednesday this month, students part of the Bosco Drexel Summer Youth Mission assisted during Mass at Saint Therese at St. Mary of the Woods with music and liturgy, and afterwards joined residents from Independent Living for lunch.

Giving back is at the heart of what we do. ❤️🌹

Last week, Tracey Murphy (Sales Director), Michael Helco (Executive Director), Colleen Newton (Sales Specialist), Kaylee Clements (Business Office Manager), and Melody Martin (Life Enrichment & Transportation Specialist) had the opportunity to join Kickin’ It with Kenny for Fox 8’s Stuff the Bus school supply drive.

Our team was proud to donate school supplies and support local students as they prepare for a successful school year. It was a wonderful opportunity to give back to our community and be part of an event that helps make a difference for so many families.

Another fun-filled week in Life Enrichment!

Our residents enjoyed a delicious lunch outing at Lenoci’s Spaghetti House, celebrated Shark Week with some fintastic activities, and put their knowledge to the test during our latest Jeopardy! showdown. 🦈🍝

Congratulations to our Independent Living residents, who are our most recent Jeopardy champions! Their quick thinking and trivia prowess earned them the latest title—and a little extra bragging rights until the next time they meet. 🏆✨

There’s never a dull moment on campus, and we’re already looking forward to another great week of making memories together. Come grow with us and see what our community has to offer! 🌹🌟

This summer, we have been blessed to welcome the Bosco Drexel Summer Youth Mission from Holy Trinity and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception to Saint Therese of Avon! Over the past several weeks, these incredible young people have joined our residents for Mass, fellowship, and meaningful conversations that have brought joy to everyone involved.

Their visits have created beautiful moments of connection across generations, reminding us of the power of faith, kindness, and community. Whether sharing a smile, lending a listening ear, or praying together, the Bosco Drexel missionaries have made a lasting impact on our campus.

We are deeply grateful for their time, compassion, and servant hearts. Thank you for sharing your faith and bringing such positive energy to our Saint Therese family. We look forward to welcoming you back again!
