👑 This summer, King's Speech & Learning Center is running Social Skills Groups — and we'd love to have your child join us! 👑

💬 Social skills are at the heart of everything we do — from making a new friend on the playground to navigating a tough conversation in the hallway. When these skills don't come naturally, it can affect confidence, friendships, and so much more. That's where we come in.

Here's what we have available:

🌱 Young Children's Group
For our littlest learners who are just beginning to figure out the world of friendship and play! We work on turn-taking, sharing, starting conversations, and connecting with peers in a warm and welcoming setting.

⭐ Elementary-Aged Children's Group
School-age kids face a whole new world of social expectations — recess, group projects, lunch tables, and more. This group helps them build the confidence and skills to navigate it all!

🧑 Teen Group
Teenage social life is complicated — and that's putting it mildly! Our teen group helps older kids build real confidence in social situations, understand social cues, navigate friendships, and feel good about who they are.

All three groups are led by our skilled Speech-Language Pathologists and designed to be engaging, supportive, and — dare we say it — actually fun! 😄

☀️ June Core Words of the Month: WANT, STOP, and LOOK! ☀️

Core words are powerful words that can be used throughout the day in many different situations. This month, practice modeling these words during summer adventures, playground trips, nature walks, meals, and family fun.

Remember: AAC users learn language best when they see others using it. Try modeling these words naturally during everyday activities and watch for opportunities to communicate together!

💙 As ALS Awareness Month comes to a close, we couldn't let it pass without sharing something close to our hearts. 💙

Our founder, Judy, was more than the person who built King's Speech & Learning Center. She was a passionate, dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist who truly loved what she did. Judy believed deeply in the power of communication and poured her heart into every single client she worked with. She didn't just do this job — she lived it.

In 2024, we lost Judy to ALS — a disease that, in one of life's cruelest ironies, robs people of the very ability to speak and communicate that she spent her entire career fighting to protect and restore.

This month — and every month — we honor her memory by continuing the mission she built from the ground up: helping people of all ages find and use their voice.

One easy way to build vocabulary at dinner tonight:

🧐 Instead of asking, “How was your day?” try asking more specific questions like:

What was the funniest part of your day? 🤪
What did you learn today? 🤓
Tell me something difficult you did today. 💪
Who did you play with today? 🤩

Specific questions encourage children to use more vocabulary, longer sentences, and stronger storytelling skills.

Bonus tip: Answer the question yourself first — children learn a lot from hearing language modeled for them!

For Example:
“My favorite part of today was getting an iced coffee because I was really tired this morning.” ☕️

Small changes in everyday conversations can make a BIG impact on language development 💬💕

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave everything in service to our country. 🇺🇸

🤔 Myth: Speech-Language Therapists only help with "talking problems."

🤯 Fact: Speech therapists have a wide skill set and can help with more than just talking! Speech therapists can also support clients with ADHD/ADD, Autism spectrum disorder, literacy skills (reading, writing, spelling), stroke recovery, voice disorders, traumatic brain injury, and so! much! more!
