Kern Regional Center

Kern Regional Center Providing services and supports to over 13,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities.

08/14/2026

The inaugural flight from LAX touched down at Meadows Field — another important step toward better connecting Kern County to the rest of California and beyond.

Days like today are why I’m fighting for SB 661, the AERO Act: to invest in regional airports, expand air service and make sure growing communities like ours have the infrastructure to keep up.

Mandated Reporter Training now available from Direct Support Professional University (DSPU)

Hello Direct Support Professionals,

KRC and the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) are excited to share that FREE Mandated Reporter Training is now available in the Direct Support Professional University (DSPU).

The new course includes two parts:

- Child Abuse & Neglect Mandated Reporter Training General Training
- Elder & Adult Abuse Mandated Reporter Training General Training

The work you do every day helps people live safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives. These training courses provide additional tools to help you recognize and respond to situations where someone may be at risk.

When you complete each part of the course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion that you can share with your employer. Please note that each course can only be completed once in DSPU.

This course is available to all DSPs at no cost. While the Department does not require you to complete the course, it is offered as a valuable resource to help you build your knowledge and strengthen your skills.

If you have questions or need assistance accessing the course, please send an email to [email protected].

Thank you for your continued commitment to supporting Californians with developmental disabilities.

We want to learn what people know about their HCBS Rights and how education and outreach efforts on these important rights can be improved. Please take your time in completing this survey by the end of the week if you are a person served by the regional center. This survey was created by a team of researchers, educators, and advocates with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It focuses on the real experiences and needs of people with disabilities.
We ask that you share this survey with any people who receive services from a regional center in your life and take this survey yourself if you are someone who receives services from a regional center.
If support to take the survey is needed, we have members of DDS’ the Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) available to help. For more information or to get help filling it out, call or text (415) 484-9526. Those who fill out the survey will have the option to participate in a raffle for a DoorDash gift card!
You can take the survey using the information included on the flyer or by going to the link in our bio!
