✨ A New Placenta Art Offering ✨

I am honored to share the first placental membrane drum I have personally created. While other birth workers and artists have created similar pieces, this offering felt deeply aligned with the placenta burial preparation I already provide for the families I serve.

The placental membrane is carefully preserved and stretched over a jícara—a traditional gourd bowl—creating a meaningful keepsake that can be gently played like a drum.

From the rhythm of the womb to the rhythm of the drum, this piece honors the placenta that nourished, protected, and sustained baby throughout pregnancy.

Placental membrane art is now available as part of my placenta art and burial preparation services, giving families another intentional way to honor the placenta before returning it to the earth.

Once a vessel that held life—now a sacred remembrance of the journey. 🤎

Pregnancy Loss Deserves Support, Too. 🤍

Miscarriage and pregnancy loss can affect a person in ways that others may never see.

There may be grief.
Shock.
Anger.
Numbness.
Relief.
Confusion.
Physical discomfort.
Or a mixture of emotions that changes from one moment to the next.

There is no “right” way to experience loss.

And while so much attention is often placed on the medical care surrounding a miscarriage, there is also a person who may need someone beside them — someone to listen, sit quietly, offer reassurance, help them understand what to expect, and simply hold space without trying to fix their grief.

Many families may not realize that Medi-Cal’s doula benefit includes support related to miscarriage and pregnancy loss.

A doula can provide non-medical physical, emotional, and informational support during this incredibly tender time — including support surrounding miscarriage management or a procedure such as a D&C, within the doula’s scope of practice.

Sometimes support looks like talking.

Sometimes it looks like sitting quietly.

Sometimes it means helping someone process what just happened.

And sometimes it simply means making sure they don’t have to walk through such a vulnerable moment without support.

Pregnancy loss is still a birth experience worthy of compassion, dignity, tenderness, and care. 🤍

If you or someone you love is experiencing a pregnancy loss and has Medi-Cal, know that doula support may be available to you.

You are allowed to ask for someone to hold space for you, too.
