A little throwback to when our sheep were still small enough to fit in the crook of your arm. 🐑🤎

It’s hard to believe these little faces have grown so much. From tiny, wobbly legs and curious little personalities to the boys we know and love today.
A few memories from the days when they were little.
Thank you Sandra Zaki for the video!

The chickens are curious and opportunistic. Our ehh laying hens have free range and enjoy exploring the other animal areas and stealing food whenever possible.
Have you tried our eggs yet?

I know my heart. I know how hard I tried. And I know there are limits to what one person can carry.

Words have power. They can help. They can heal. They can rally people around a cause. Or they can simply hurt.

I hope we choose them accordingly.

Thank you to everyone who rallied for the stray dog- who shared the stories tagged a rescue or person. He has a home. Monday morning at 8am. His new family will come get him.

For those of you who chose to attack me versus sharing the story or tagging a rescue, especially those of you who are already tied into that world of rescues- that’s really sad. You had the capacity to help and you choice instead to tear me down. The one person trying to help.

Today is a hard day. 💔

This sweet boy showed up at Okihi about a month and a half ago, and I’ve spent that time earning his trust, getting to know him, calling rescues, reaching out to people and sharing his story in hopes of finding him somewhere safe to land.

Unfortunately, we’ve run out of options.

Okihi works with children, interns and the public, and I simply can’t have a loose dog on the property. We are also at our capacity with animals and cannot responsibly take on another one.

And this one hurts, because he is SUCH a good dog.

He is incredibly smart and picks up commands almost immediately. He’s devoted, wants to stay right beside you, and has been wonderful walking with me around the property. He’s young, beautiful, energetic and would make an incredible companion for someone who loves the outdoors, has some space, or just wants a loyal adventure buddy.

Today I have to surrender him to the SPCA on Fruitvale. A kill shelter and it doesn’t feel good.

I really wanted to be the person who could give him his happy ending, but sometimes helping an animal also means admitting when you can’t be that person.

So I’m asking for one last thing: please share him today. ❤️

Maybe his person is one share away from seeing him.

He deserves the chance to be someone’s very best dog.

My birthday wish this year is simple: help me find this boy a home. 🤍

This beautiful stray showed up about a month and a half ago and somehow managed to survive on his own. Over the last week, I’ve gained his trust and started getting to know him—and this dog is something special.

He’s a male, under a year old, with beautiful blue eyes and what looks like some kind of Husky/Shepherd mix. He’s on the smaller side, incredibly smart, observant, and eager to connect.

So far, he has been:
• Great with other dogs
• Calm around chickens and turkeys
• Calm around goats, sheep and horses
• Not sure exactly—and actually a little scared—of the cats 😂
• Sweet, intelligent and very tuned in to the people around him

Because of how well he’s behaved around our animals, I think he could potentially make a wonderful farm/ranch dog or livestock companion with the right training and introduction. But he absolutely does not need a farm. I could also see him being an incredible adventure buddy and best friend for someone looking for a smart, loyal dog.

He’s young. He’s survived. And now he deserves to belong somewhere.

So for my birthday, will you help me get him home?

Even if you can’t adopt him, PLEASE SHARE this video. The right person may be one share away.

If you’re seriously interested in adopting him, send me a message.
