Bakersfield Community Healthcare (Home Health, Palliative Care, Hospice, Caregiving, and Adult Day Health and Activity Center) was invited by the First Congregational Church of Bakersfield to present information about our services and discuss some very valuable information about preparing for the Later Seasons of Life.

Todd, our Director of Community Relations, gave an overview of all our services, Kim, our Director of Patient Care Services, talked about the importance of Advanced Health Care Directives and Chris, our Hospice Chaplain, explored how aging remains a meaningful season of purpose and meaningful connection.

It is always rewarding to connect with our community in a very personal way to help provide practical guidance, encouragement and hope.

Each quarter, Bakersfield Community Health and Activity Center brings excitement and reward together through our special B*HC Store event. This highly anticipated experience gives participants the opportunity to redeem credits they’ve earned through consistent attendance, active participation in exercise classes and therapy sessions, and by supporting and engaging with their fellow participants.
Our store offers a wide variety of items—from everyday essentials and tasty snacks to fun, creative, and personal treats—ensuring there’s something for everyone. The event is filled with energy, pride, and joy as participants “shop” for items they’ve worked hard to earn.
The experience is made even more memorable through photos capturing participants smiling, celebrating, and proudly showing off the items they’ve selected. These moments highlight not only the rewards themselves, but the sense of accomplishment, community, and connection that defines Bakersfield Community Health Center.

July has been a busy month here at the Bakersfield Community Adult Day Health and Activity Center. We kicked it off celebrating our Country's 250th Birthday with fun, food, and activities including a water balloon "toss" on our Day Center patio for those who wanted to brave the Bako heat. Bakersfield Community Healthcare is an organization that provides a variety of services to our community. From Home Health Skilled Nursing and Rehab Therapy, Palliative Care, Hospice, Adult Day Health and Activity Center, to Personal Caregiving Services.

No matter what kind of care our patients and Day Center participants are receiving from us they become part of our "Family", and we enjoy celebrating special occasions with them including Holidays, birthdays, and even weddings.

Every Day at Bakersfield Community Health Center is a fun, interactive, and health promoting day.

One of the activities we do regularly is our "Group Discussions". When you have a large number of Day Center participants including new participants joining every day, it is important to make introductions and getting to know each other better. So, our Group Discussions focus on different topics including the sports we currently or used to play, celebrities we have met or have seen up close, favorite foods, or favorite places we have visited around the U.S. or around the world. We truly believe that building relationships and staying active are some of the most important benefits of attending our Adult Day Activity and Health Center.

Add to that nutritious breakfasts and Lunches, daily exercise, physical and occupational therapy, nursing oversight and case management, social services, arts and crafts, games and music and you have a program that helps our community to thrive and have the best quality of life possible.

It was a busy week supporting fun events with some of our senior community partners.

We kicked it off earlier this week by welcoming some of the new residents who have recently moved into Columbus Estates. We served deli sandwiches with all the fixin's, along with chips and dessert on a beautiful summer day in Bakersfield.

Our Home Health, Personal Caregiving, Hospice Care, and Adult Day Activity Center programs help support many of the seniors in our community so they can remain in their homes and receive the care they need in comfortable and familiar surroundings. Our Community Liaison Alise had a great time serving up ice cream at Solstice Senior Living. There was a great turnout and the residents got to create their own yummy sundaes with all kinds of delicious toppings.
