We are thrilled to announce our Gatehouse Rehabilitation project won a Grand Jury Award at last night’s Preservation Achievement Awards ceremony, hosted by the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia.

These enhancements safeguard the cemetery’s last original building designed by John Notman and preserve a vital piece of Philadelphia’s architectural history. This striking building stands proudly as a community anchor and a welcoming presence for all visitors!

Congratulations to the other winners. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who worked on this monumental project, and thank you to the Preservation Alliance for this incredible honor!

Our goat walk series at is back!

🐐 Wed, June 3rd at 6pm at Laurel Hill East

⏰: Walks start promptly at 6pm

🚗 For Laurel Hill West (May 27th): the address is 225 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. Meet the Goats at the the parking lot on the North Side of the Funeral Home. Enter on Belmont Avenue and park at the Funeral Home that is immediately on the left as you come in.

🚗 For Laurel Hill East (June 3rd): the address is 3822 Ridge Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19132. We will depart from the Gatehouse at Laurel Hill East’s main entrance, located at 3822 Ridge Ave. Parking is available in any of the parking lot areas directly across from the main entrance (you will not be ticketed or towed). Street parking is available in the neighborhood on Indiana Ave., N. 35th St., W. Clearfield St., N. Shedwick St., and/or N. 34th St.

This Mother’s Day, we’re honoring the woman who started it all: Anna Jarvis.

Jarvis founded Mother’s Day in 1908 to honor her own mother’s legacy of service. By 1914, it became a national holiday. Today, Anna rests at Laurel Hill West in Bala Cynwyd, alongside the very mother who inspired her life's work. 🌸

While she later fought the holiday's commercialization, her original vision remains: a simple, heartfelt "thank you" to the women who raise us.

Wishing a very Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers and maternal figures! 💐

Nancy Goldenberg, co-chair of PA Gardens, a statewide coalition of public horticulture organizations, joined colleagues from across the state in Harrisburg yesterday, presenting a bouquet of flowers to State Representative Christine Sappey (158th, Chester County) as she marked with an official resolution.

The day also included testimony before the PA House Tourism, Recreation, & Economic Development Committee and visits with multiple elected officials to advocate for increased investment in Pennsylvania’s public gardens and arboreta. 🌳🌸🌱🌼

We had the best time with our pet community at Women's Animal Center's Open House this past Saturday! It was a day packed with amazing raffle baskets, interactive games and activities, guided shelter tours, and local vendors with the cutest pet-themed treats and products!

It was also a great opportunity for everyone to learn more about Women’s Animal Center's incredible veterinary hospital, adoption center, dog training services, and community education programs. 🐕🐈

To top off the day, Laurel Hill Pet Cemetery was honored to present a donation check to support WAC’s tireless mission of caring for animals in need. We’re so proud to continue this partnership! 🐾🧡

On this Arbor Day, we honored a champion. 🌳✨

We said goodbye to our State Champion English yew (Taxus baccata) today with a funeral to honor the massive tree’s life and legacy. Recognized in 2019 as the largest in PA, this legacy tree is beginning a new chapter: its trunk will become a hand-sculpted bench, and its wood will be preserved for future champion creations. 🪵

To look forward, we also planted a new Dawn redwood—a scion of the champion at . Huge thanks to our guest speakers and community for helping us honor the past and plant for the future.
