MYTH: Home birth is only for subsequent pregnancies

REALITY: Last year, we cared for 70 mothers—and 13 of them were first-time moms.

Many are surprised to learn that some families choose home birth for their very first birth experience, but home birth isn’t reserved for experienced parents. It’s one option among many for families whose pregnancy and circumstances make it appropriate and who value giving birth in a familiar environment with continuity of care.

Every family’s goals, preferences, and medical considerations are different, and there’s no one “right” way to welcome a baby.

Whether a birth happens at home, birth center, or hospital, informed and supported care matters.

Morning sickness: when was it the worst for you?

Morning? Afternoon? Evening? Or truly all day?

Despite the name, nausea in pregnancy doesn’t follow a clock. For some it’s predictable, for others it shifts throughout the day—or throughout the entire pregnancy. No two experiences are the same, and sometimes, a repeat pregnancy or two doesn't follow mom's trend!
