Juneteenth commemorates the anniversary of June 19, 1865, when the Union Army arrived in Texas and enforced freedom from slavery in Texas. This ended enslavement in the last of the Confederate States but sadly did not end racism.

Juneteenth is a day to honor the resilience, strength, and enduring spirit of the African American community. It serves as a powerful reminder of the struggles and triumphs of those who fought for freedom and justice. We honor the legacy of those who endured and overcame unimaginable hardships and reaffirm our commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

"Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory or an acceptance of the way things are. It’s a celebration of progress. It’s an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possible—and there is still so much work to do.” — Barack Obama

At PRC, we recognize that recovery is not about judgment; it’s about understanding and support.

Effective treatment considers the whole person and provides the tools and care needed to support lasting change. Substance use disorders are complex health conditions. Recovery often requires support, structure, and ongoing care, not willpower alone.

You are more than your addiction. More than the fear, the pain, or the hardest moments of your story. Recovery begins when people feel seen, supported, and given the care they need to take the next step forward.

We believe healing is possible for everyone.

Healing doesn’t happen all at once. Recovery is built through honest moments, daily support, and small steps taken one day at a time. Prioritizing your mental health is not a setback; it’s part of the process. 💙

A new week is another opportunity to choose yourself.

Recovery is built one step, one decision, and one day at a time. No matter where you are in your journey, progress is still progress.

Every recovery journey starts with feeling safe, supported, and cared for. Stories like this remind us how important compassionate care can be during the earliest stages of treatment. At Powell, we meet clients where they are and help make recovery feel possible one step at a time. 💙

Recovery is about more than addressing substance use alone. Many people also face mental health challenges like anxiety, depression, or trauma, and treating both together can improve long-term recovery outcomes.

At Powell Recovery Center, clients enrolled in our substance use treatment programs have access to integrated mental health services through our licensed Outpatient Mental Health Clinic (OMHC), conveniently offered right on our campus and fully integrated with their substance use treatment. Services include psychiatric care, medication management, counseling, and specialty groups designed to support the whole person.

When you’re ready, we’re here. 💛 Call us at (410) 276-1773 for help!
