Congrats to Dr. Qiana Brown, JHOFI’s founder and Assistant Professor at Rutgers University School of Social Work (SSW), on her innovative ! The is partnership between faculty at the Rutgers SSW, School of Engineering, the New Jersey State Police and communities to prevent opioid use disorder using wastewater-based epidemiology.

Dr. Qiana L. Brown, Assistant Professor at Rutgers School of Social Work, was awarded a $10,000 NIH/NCATS/CTSA pilot award through the New Jersey Alliance for Clinical and Translation Science (NJ ACTS – a Rutgers-led NCATS/CTSA program hub). JHOFI's founder, Dr. Qiana Brown, discusses her newly funded aimed at preventing opioid use disorder in Camden County, New Jersey through wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). She will collaborate with community members and colleagues from Rutgers University School of Social Work, Rutgers University School of Engineering and the New Jersey State Police (NJSP) to ensure that an innovative, NJSP-led WBE opioid use surveillance pilot program is tailored to the needs of the community and consumers of opioid prevention services.
