Quick look at a custom double gradient pair of lenses we did for a client - in a new Juno frame from AKONI

We used the existing sun lenses as our template and ended up doing a 20% blue gray to 20% yellow with anti reflective coating and gray transitions.

Our client is in Portugal on vacation so Kai is standing in and Violet is playing the role of his enthusiastic and lovely wife. I think they nailed it.

Just a reminder we’ve been doing tints like this for decades - we can do almost anything you want- stop in let’s create something amazing.

If I could record my nightmares- I think they’d be filmed not in black and white - but in orange and purple.

In this one - someone put Young Kai in charge of frame purchasing - and he hates everything.

This would be the definition of a long day.

Monday morning - he’s dressed impeccably and I look like I’m going to the gym.

He was super gracious and gifted me the Rocco pair I’m wearing in the video- even though my birthday was 6 months ago. Don’t worry we will have it in stock in multiple colors - and if it can make me look good it will look amazing on you.

What do I do when the store is closed on Mondays?

Part 2

Also visiting us this past Monday - all the way from California- was Tom Cody - owner and designer of Zero G Eyewear - which we’ve carried for years as well as the companion collection - OG by Zero G.

Tom has 2 of the greatest hinges in the industry and his frames wear like a dream- we encourage customers to try them on to see what we mean.

Frames are made in Japan - in the Masunaga factory - and it takes over 200 steps to make 1 frame.

We have a bunch in stock already with more to come - so stop in and try some on.

Quick video with a pair of pairs of sunglasses we made for a couple before they took a big vacation.

They were referred to us by their son and had never shopped with an independent boutique like ours before - having gotten all of their previous eyewear from big box stores.

We do love when couples shop together for their new eyewear - and we do love referrals - even though like directions I have a hard time asking for them 🤦🏻‍♂️

With Jay’s help the wife chose an awesome petite pair from and the husband got an innovative pair from .

Interestingly enough both pairs are interpretations of a classic aviator design but are completely unique and different in their construction.

Both sets of digital progressive lenses were elegantly done in gray polarized with a back side anti-reflective coating.

What do I do when the store is closed on Mondays?

Part 1

I started off Monday morning with my long-time friend Mehran - from Spectacle Eyeworks. Mehran Hotstuff

Mehran is one of the nicest (and best dressed) people I know.

He made the trip all the way from Vancouver - so the least I could do is make the 20 minute ride down to the shop to meet him.

We’ve been carrying his creations for over 2 decades- and anyone who’s seen them can attest - they’re amazing.

He definitely outdid himself this visit with so many different designs and some awesome new collaborations. It was almost overwhelming.

We were visited by our friend Jed from l.a.Eyeworks last week.

It has come to my attention that his new nickname is “Sweet Jed” so we will make sure to address him as such going forward. He is pretty sweet to be honest.

Also sweet were all of the super cool new Fall designs- awesome colors and shapes - they did not disappoint.
