Today we’re exploring different textures to wake up our senses and build hand skills: the smooth, rolling feel of tiny magnetic beads, the warm swirling corn husks in our Fluido machine, and the gentle grip of textured kinesiotape.
Texture is so important in hand therapy because it:
• Stimulates tactile receptors and improves sensory awareness
• Helps with desensitization (for hypersensitive hands) or sensory re-education
• Encourages graded grip, pinch, and manipulation skills
• Makes therapy fun and functional—training our hands to feel and respond to the varied textures we encounter every day!
