Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is often misunderstood, but when provided by trained medical and mental health professionals in a supervised setting, it has a strong safety profile.

Here are a few important facts:
-Ketamine has been used safely in medicine for decades.
-Therapeutic doses are much lower than anesthetic doses.
-Treatment includes thorough screening, medical oversight, and trauma-informed care.
-A comprehensive evaluation helps determine whether KAP is appropriate for each individual.

If you are exploring Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in Baltimore or Maryland, we encourage you to reach out for a consultation or fill out our KAP Screening Form. We are happy to answer your questions and help you get started. (see link in bio)

There are just 3 spots remaining in our Expand Your Practice: Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Foundations Training this October.

As interest in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy continues to grow, we believe clinicians deserve training that is trauma-informed, ethical, experiential, and deeply rooted in presence, not just protocols. This immersive training is designed to help you integrate KAP into your practice with confidence, integrity, and care.

We’re also excited to share that Phil Wolfson, MD, one of the true trailblazers of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and co-editor of The Ketamine Papers, will be joining us to teach one of our training modules. It is an honor to have him as part of this experience.

We are committed to increasing access to this work and are offering one significantly discounted scholarship, with priority given to BIPOC clinicians. If you are interested in applying, please email [email protected] to request a scholarship application.

If you’ve been feeling called to this work, we’d love to have you join us.

Training Schedule:
October 5, 2026 (Zoom Session)
October 8–11, 2026 (In-Person, Baltimore, Maryland)
October 19, 2026 (Zoom Session)

There’s a common misconception that ketamine “works” simply because it changes consciousness.

The reality is much more interesting.

Ketamine temporarily creates a state of increased neuroplasticity- a window where the brain becomes more adaptable and capable of forming new neural connections. During this time, many people experience less rumination, greater emotional openness, and the ability to see themselves and their experiences from a different perspective.

This is one of the reasons ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can be so powerful.

But ketamine isn’t magic, and it doesn’t do the therapeutic work on its own.

The medication creates the opportunity. Therapy and integration help turn that opportunity into meaningful, lasting change.

Healing isn’t just about feeling different for a few hours- it’s about using that window of flexibility to build new patterns that continue long after the medicine session ends.

If you are exploring Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in Baltimore or Maryland, we encourage you to reach out for a consultation or fill out our KAP Screening Form. We are happy to answer your questions and help you get started.

There is something deeply healing about stepping away from daily life and entering a space where you can simply be present.

Last weekend, seven participants joined us for a two-day immersive ketamine-assisted psychotherapy retreat at beautiful Fox Haven Farm & Retreat. Together, we created a space rooted in safety, presence, curiosity, and connection.

Over the course of the retreat, participants experienced two IM ketamine-assisted psychotherapy journeys, along with art integration, Internal Family Systems (IFS) practices, nature-based experiences, and the simple but powerful medicine of coming together in community.

Healing doesn’t happen through one experience alone. It unfolds through preparation, integration, meaningful relationships, and the courage to stay present with ourselves and one another. It was a privilege to witness that process throughout the weekend.

A heartfelt thank you to Monica Sizemore, whose nourishing, locally sourced meals were prepared with such care and love. The food became its own form of medicine, supporting the body alongside the emotional and relational work taking place.

We are also deeply grateful to everyone who entrusted us with their healing journey. Your openness, vulnerability, and willingness to show up for yourselves and each other made this retreat what it was.

Swipe through to see a few moments from the weekend and hear directly from some of the participants about their experience.

Please reach out to get on our interest list for future retreats. Link is in the bio.

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is more than a medication treatment- it’s a structured therapeutic process designed to support meaningful, lasting change.

By increasing neuroplasticity and reducing fear-based responses, ketamine can create a unique window for healing, insight, and growth when combined with psychotherapy.

The medicine opens the door. Therapy helps you walk through it.

If you are exploring Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in Baltimore or Maryland, we encourage you to reach out for a consultation or fill out our KAP Screening Form. We are happy to answer your questions and help you get started.

Expand Your Self Wellness is now offering both EMDR and EMDR KAP Intensives!

EMDR Intensives offer a more immersive and focused approach to trauma healing for those who feel ready to go deeper than traditional weekly therapy allows. Through extended sessions scheduled over several hours or consecutive days, intensives create space for greater continuity, momentum, and integration in the healing process.

These intensives can be especially supportive for individuals feeling stuck in long-standing patterns of trauma, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm and are available as standalone experiences or in combination with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy. Our approach integrates EMDR with somatic awareness, nervous system support, and The PATH Approach™ to help clients move toward deeper healing, regulation, and lasting change.
