👀 The truth is that even if your eyes are blue, green, or brown just like other people in your family, the pigment combination and melanin distribution in your iris is its own.

For a long time, the explanation for this was simplified by saying that brown was dominant and blue recessive. Today we know that the genetics behind the eye colors are a lot more complex: there are several genes involved, and different combinations can lead to a wide variety of tonalities.

That is why two people can have the same eye color and yet have differences in the amount and distribution of their iris pigmentation.

👁️The World Vision Day is a chance to remember that looking after our eyes is not just having a consultation when there is a problem.

👉🏽Presbyopia is a part of the natural process of eye aging, but the search for vision-improvement alternatives persists.

During ESCRS 2026, Dra. Maria Soledad Romero presented data from research performed at Precision Eye Care about aceclidine 1.44% (VIZZ), a topical treatment for presbyopia.

The results under real-world conditions showed a rapid effect: patients reported improvements in near vision within 15 and 30 minutes after application.
This study included Precision Eye Care patients between August 2025 and January 2026, with collaboration from students at Johns Hopkins University.

To look after your vision during these next months, take these tips into account:
• Protect your eyes from the wind and UV rays with sunglasses.
• Avoid rubbing your eyes if they feel itchy or irritated.
• Stay hydrated.
• If you wear contact lenses, maximize their hygiene and stick to their recommended periods of use.

Cataract surgery usually allows resuming several activities quickly; however, driving requires an assessment.

The answer is YES, but not immediately, and the period is not the same for everyone.
After going through this procedure, the eye needs some time to recover. Patients may suffer from blurry or fluctuating vision, light sensitivity, or changes in how they perceive depth.

Additionally, if only one eye went through surgery, there may be a noticeable difference between both eyes’ vision until the second surgery is performed.
That is why there is no specific number of days that work for everyone: the right time to go back to driving depends on each patient and how their vision evolves.

Myopia isn’t just needing eyeglasses with a stronger prescription. With severe myopias, generally -6.00 diopters or higher, there are structural changes in the eye that may increase the risk of developing certain ocular diseases.

A population study published recently in the Ophthalmology magazine, which analyzed over 14 million adults, found out that people with myopia have a higher risk of developing glaucoma. This risk is even higher for those with severe myopia.
This does not mean that having myopia makes it certain that you will have glaucoma, but it is worth having adequate ophthalmologic monitoring.

Glaucoma can develop without any evident symptoms for a long time. That is why if your myopia is high, comprehensive and regular checkups are an essential tool to look after your long-term vision.
