Today marks the end of an incredible chapter.

After 32 years of caring for women in our community, Downeast Ob/Gyn has officially closed its doors.

To our patients—thank you for trusting us through so many of life’s most meaningful moments. It has been an honor to care for generations of women and families, and we are deeply grateful for the relationships we’ve built along the way. Your trust, kindness, and loyalty have meant more to us than words can express.

To our colleagues, referring providers, community partners, and everyone who has supported our practice over the years, thank you for standing beside us. Your collaboration and encouragement have been an important part of our journey, and we are truly grateful.

Finally, to our staff—thank you for your unwavering dedication, compassion, and teamwork. The friendships we’ve built over the years are something we will carry with us for a lifetime. Together, we’ve celebrated milestones, overcome challenges, shared countless laughs, and supported one another through every season.

While it is bittersweet to say goodbye, we do so with immense gratitude for the past 32 years and excitement for what lies ahead. Every ending creates space for a new beginning, and as we each move into our next chapter, we do so carrying the lessons, memories, and relationships that made Downeast Ob/Gyn so special.

📢 Important Reminder – Practice Closure & Medical Records

As a reminder, our practice will permanently close on July 2, 2026.

If you have not yet requested the transfer of your medical records, please complete the Authorization for Release of Medical Records form that was mailed to you and return it to our office no later than June 30, 2026. If you no longer have a copy of the release form, you can access it on our website at https://www.downeastobgyn.com/.

Patients who requested a paper copy of their medical records and have been contacted that their records are ready for pickup must retrieve them from our office no later than 12:00 PM on July 2, 2026.

These deadlines will allow our staff adequate time to process your request before the practice closes. Thank you for your cooperation during this transition. If you have any questions, please contact our office as soon as possible.

After 32 years of service to the community, Downeast Ob/Gyn will be closing its doors on July 2, 2026. Until that time, we will continue to provide care for our patients at our office as we begin the process of transitioning to the next chapter.

Jaime Williams, FNP-C, has secured the location for her new practice, Renova Health. She will be located at 34 Abbott Street, Suite 12, in Brewer, ME.

For those of our patients who wish to continue their care with her at her new location, we will ensure your records are transferred pending a signed medical record release form. Someone from her office will be reaching out in the coming weeks to schedule your follow up appointments at her new location.

Introducing Renova Health ✨

Renova Health was created from a shared belief that healthcare should feel personal, supportive, and empowering. As two sisters who have spent years working together in women’s healthcare, we have seen firsthand the importance of providing compassionate and individualized care—and we are bringing that same approach to our own private practice.

Together, we bring a combined 18 years of experience in the private practice Ob/Gyn setting. Most recently, we worked side by side at Downeast Ob/Gyn where we created a successful medical weight-loss program that grew significantly over the past three years and helped shape the vision for what Renova Health would become.

At Renova Health, we are proud to continue offering medical weight-loss management, gynecological care, and hormone replacement therapy. We understand that every patient’s journey is unique and we are committed to providing thoughtful, evidence-based care that is realistic and tailored to the individual. Our hope is that every patient who walks through our doors feels empowered to renew their health, restore their confidence, and become the healthiest version of themselves.

As we begin this new chapter, we extend our sincere gratitude to Downeast Ob/Gyn for believing in our vision and supporting the development of the program that helped shape our future. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity, mentorship, and support that made this dream possible. You will always be a part of our story.

Today, Dr. Rumsey and Renee roomed their final patient together after 12 years — the first of many hard goodbyes in the weeks ahead.

For more than a decade, Renee was Dr. Rumsey’s right hand and played an essential role in the care we provided to our patients. Many came to know and love this “package deal”. She brought kindness, compassion, and dedication to our office every single day.

We are excited to share that Renee will be joining United Insurance as a receptionist, and though this is a slight career change for her, we know she is exactly where she is meant to be in this next chapter.

After 84 years, Dr. Rumsey will FINALLY be taking some well deserved time off this weekend. He will resume call coverage on Monday, May 25th, at 7:00 AM.

Beginning Friday, May 22nd, call coverage will be shared by Dr. Kauffman, Dr. Salyer, and Dr. Rinaldi from Women's Healthcare of Maine. Please continue to use our on-call phone at (207) 745-9694 during this time.

We are incredibly grateful for their support and want to reassure our patients that you will be in excellent hands should you need care this weekend.

Partnering with LifeFlight, they turn emergency transports into mobile NICUs, bridging rural communities to specialized care with skill, calm, and heart.

📣✨ ANNOUNCEMENT ✨📣

We are excited to share that Jaime Williams, FNP-C, will be opening her own private practice, Renova Health, where she will continue offering medical weight-loss management, hormone replacement therapy, and routine/acute gynecological care.

Jaime is hopeful that many of her current patients will choose to continue their care with her at Renova Health following the closure of our office. While a few details are still being finalized regarding the new office location, we will share additional information as soon as it becomes available.

We will begin mailing letters out to Jaime’s patients this week, along with a Medical Record Release form. In order for records to be transferred, the release form must be completed and returned to our office. Once received, records will be sent as requested.

Jaime will continue seeing patients at Downeast Ob/Gyn up until the practice closure, with care transitioning to Renova Health beginning Thursday, July 9th. For patients currently under Jaime’s care for weight-loss management who plan to continue their care at Renova Health, Jaime and a member of her team will be reaching out to schedule follow-up appointments to help ensure there is no lapse in care during this transition.

We are sincerely grateful for the trust our patients have placed in us and for the opportunity to be a part of your healthcare journey. It has been a privilege to care for you, and we sincerely thank you for your continued support throughout the years. We are confident that you will continue to receive excellent care with Jaime and her team at their new office.

When someone asks me how long I've been on call for:
