ππ Congratulations, Norman! ππ
We are proud to celebrate Norman Blomquist, a resident who was recently recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award through the Maine Health Care Association Remember ME program.
Norman was joined by members of his care team in attendance at the recognition ceremony in Augusta, where he was honored for a remarkable life of service, sacrifice, and compassion.
A U.S. Navy Veteran, Norman served for more than 20 years as a Navy Corpsman and later as an in-flight surgeon's assistant, providing medical care to wounded service members in Korea, Vietnam, and throughout Europe. He was wounded three times in combat and received numerous military honors, including three Purple Hearts. Yet those who know Norman best would tell you that his kindness and humility are what truly set him apart.
One story that speaks to his character took place during the Korean War, when Norman cared for and protected a young Korean boy amid the chaos of war. Decades later, that boyβnow a grown manβtracked Norman down to thank him, a powerful reminder that compassion can leave a lasting impact across generations.
Today, Norman continues to enrich our Home with his quiet humor, deep faith, and caring spirit. We are honored to celebrate his extraordinary life and this well-deserved recognition.
Please join us in congratulating Norman on receiving this prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award! π
