The Wellspring Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Gwinn as Executive Director of Wellspring, effective July 1, 2026.

Over the past six months, Rick has served as Interim Executive Director, providing thoughtful leadership during a period of transition while strengthening community partnerships and focusing on the long-term health of the organization.

Board President Leah Barfield shared, "Rick's commitment to Wellspring's mission, collaborative leadership, and steady guidance gave the Board confidence that he is the right person to lead Wellspring into its next chapter."

Work on CHCS's Crisis Receiving Center in Bangor is in the final stretch, and we couldn't be more excited to share what's coming together. This walk-in behavioral health crisis support center will offer Mainers a safe, welcoming place to turn when they need help most.

No appointment. No emergency room. Just care, exactly when it's needed.

Every organization has a story, and Wellspring’s story has been one of hope.

What started as the Bangor Halfway House decades ago has grown into Wellspring, a comprehensive organization providing hope, healing, recovery, and support to thousands of individuals and families across our community. Along the way, we've expanded services, embraced new approaches, and responded to changing needs, but our mission has remained the same, helping people build healthier, more meaningful lives.

This video takes a journey through our history from our earliest days as a small halfway house for men to the organization Wellspring is today. It is a story of vision, compassion, innovation, and the countless staff, supporters, and clients who helped shape our legacy.
