🌿 Anxiety Tip Tuesday #012: The Worry–Problem-Solving Trap

Sometimes anxiety makes us feel like we need to solve every uncomfortable thought immediately.

But there is an important difference between problem-solving and worry.

Problem-solving asks:
“What can I actually do about this?”

Worry keeps asking:
“What if something goes wrong?”
…and then asks again.

When there is a practical action available, take one reasonable next step. When there isn't, continuing to think about it may not create a solution—it may simply keep your nervous system on alert.

This week, try asking yourself:

Is this something I can act on today?

If yes, choose one small next step.
If no, give yourself permission to let it rest for now.

You don't have to solve tomorrow's problems today. 🌿

🌿 Weekly Essential Reflection #012
Not Every Worry Needs a Solution

Sometimes our minds treat worry like a problem that must be solved.

We think through the same questions, search for certainty, imagine every possible outcome, and try to find the answer that will finally make us feel safe.

But worry and problem-solving are not the same thing.

Problem-solving moves us toward action. Worry often keeps us circling the same thoughts without actually moving us forward.

This week, when you notice yourself caught in a cycle of worry, pause and ask:

Is this something I can take action on today—or is this something I need to let rest for now?

Not everything needs an immediate answer.
Some things need action.
Some things need information.
And some things simply need time.

You do not have to solve everything today. 💚

Progress Not Perfection

This one pairs directly with this week's Monday Reflection: “You Can Be Kind to Yourself While Still Growing” and Tuesday Anxiety Tip: Self-Criticism & Anxiety.

The horse felt like the right character this week—steady, patient, and very much about the journey rather than getting everything exactly right.

💚 Friday Feels #011: Progress Not Perfection

Sometimes the person hardest on us is ourselves.

We notice what we didn't finish.
What we could have done better.
Where we fell short.
And somehow, all the things we did accomplish disappear from view.

That inner critic may sound like it's motivating us—but constant self-criticism can leave us feeling discouraged, anxious, and stuck.

Try something different this week:

🌿 Notice the effort, not just the outcome.

Instead of:

“I should have done more.”

Try:

“I showed up, and that matters.”

Instead of:

“I'm not where I should be.”

Try:

“I'm still learning and growing.”

Being kind to yourself doesn't mean giving up on growth.

It means recognizing that you can want to improve without believing you're not good enough right now.

✨ Progress is still progress. You don't have to be perfect to be enough.

And remember one of my favorite reminders:

Perfection keeps you waiting. Progress keeps you moving.

💬 What is one small thing you did this week that deserves more credit than you've given it?

Share it below—or simply take a moment to acknowledge it for yourself. 💚

Save this for the days when your inner critic gets a little too loud.

Progress, not perfection. 🌿

Anxiety can make us believe we have to get everything right—that mistakes mean failure, or that we should wait until we feel completely ready before moving forward.

But growth doesn’t require perfection.

Try this today:
✨ Focus on the next right step.
✨ Notice and celebrate small wins.
✨ When you catch yourself being overly critical, ask: “Would I speak to someone I care about this way?”

Self-compassion doesn’t mean lowering your standards. It means giving yourself the patience and encouragement needed to keep learning and growing.

Small, consistent steps still move you forward.

If anxiety, perfectionism, or self-criticism are making it difficult to move forward, support is available and starts with a simple conversation.

Weekly Essential Reflection #011 🌿
Progress Over Perfection

We can be so focused on getting things right that we forget to notice how far we have already come.

Growth rarely happens all at once. It happens through small steps, imperfect attempts, starting again, and continuing even when things do not go exactly as planned.

Progress still counts when it is slow.
Progress still counts when no one else notices.
Progress still counts when you have to begin again.

The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is movement toward a healthier, more aligned version of yourself.

This week, ask yourself:

What is one small step I can take toward something that matters to me?

Small steps still move you forward. 💚

💚 Friday Feels #010: What You Focus On Grows

Our brains naturally look for problems, especially when we're anxious.

A mistake can stand out more than ten things we did well.
One difficult conversation can overshadow an entire good day.
One worry can become louder than everything that is going right.

This is partly because of attentional bias—our tendency to notice certain things more easily, especially things our brain considers threatening.

But here's the hopeful part:

You can practice where you place your attention.

That doesn't mean ignoring problems or pretending everything is positive.

It means making room for the rest of the picture.

Try this today:

🌿 Pause: What has my attention right now?

🌿 Notice: Am I focusing mostly on what's wrong?

🌿 Look again: What is also going okay?

🌿 Name one thing: A small win. A kind moment. Something beautiful. Something you're proud of. Something that made you smile.

You don't have to force yourself to be positive.

Just give your brain a little more evidence that there is more happening than the thing it's worried about.

✨ You can't control every thought. But you can choose what you practice noticing.

💬 What is one good thing—big or small—that you might have overlooked today?

Tell us in the comments. Sometimes noticing it is the first step toward appreciating it. 💚

🌿 Anxiety Tip Tuesday #010: Attentional Bias

Have you ever noticed that when you’re anxious, your mind seems to find everything that could go wrong?

That’s attentional bias. When anxiety is high, the brain naturally becomes more alert to potential threats, problems, mistakes, and uncertainty. The difficult part is that we can start overlooking the things that are neutral, safe, or going well.

This week, try practicing a simple three-step shift:

Notice → Redirect → Repeat

Pause and ask yourself:
“What am I focusing on right now?”

Then gently redirect your attention toward something neutral, positive, safe, or meaningful.

You may not be able to control what initially grabs your attention—but you can practice choosing where it goes next.

What you focus on grows. 🌿

🌿 Weekly Essential Reflection #010

What You Focus On Grows

Our attention is powerful.

Where our focus goes, our energy often follows. When we spend most of our mental energy focusing on problems, worries, what we lack, or what might go wrong, those things can begin to take up more and more space in our minds.

That doesn’t mean we should ignore the difficult things. It means we can also choose to give our attention to what is going right.

Gratitude.
Connection.
Progress.
Hope.
Small moments of peace.

This week, pause and notice:

What has been taking up most of my mental energy lately?

What would I like to focus on more?

You may not be able to control everything happening around you, but you can become more intentional about where you place your attention.

What you focus on grows. 🌱

💚 Friday Feels #009: Change My Mind → Choose My Path

Making decisions can feel exhausting when your brain is convinced there is a perfect choice hiding somewhere.

What if I choose wrong?
What if I regret it?
What if there's a better option?

So we keep researching.
We ask everyone what they think.
We replay the possibilities.
And sometimes…we never actually choose.

But here's something anxiety doesn't always want us to remember:

A decision doesn't have to be permanent to be a good decision.

You can choose.

You can learn.

You can change course.

You can decide that something isn't working for you anymore.

And you can change your mind.

That isn't necessarily failure. That's flexibility.

🌿 When you're facing a decision, try asking yourself:

“What do I know right now, and what is the next reasonable step?”

You don't need certainty about the entire path. You only need enough information to take the next step—and enough trust in yourself to adjust if you need to.

✨ You can change your mind, and that doesn't mean you made the wrong choice. It means you're growing.

💬 Are you someone who makes decisions quickly, or do you tend to get stuck trying to find the “right” answer?

Save this for the next time decision anxiety has you going in circles.

Healing begins with feeling heard.

🧠 **Anxiety Tip Tuesday #009: Fear of Making the Wrong Decision**

Have you ever spent so much time trying to make the *right* decision that making any decision felt impossible?

Anxiety can make ordinary choices feel much bigger than they are. We may overthink, research endlessly, seek reassurance, or worry that one wrong choice will somehow ruin everything.

But here's the thing:

**You don't have to predict every outcome to make a good decision.**

Try this the next time you're feeling stuck:

🌿 **Ask:** *What truly matters to me right now?*

🌿 **Gather enough information** to make an informed choice—but recognize when more information isn't creating more clarity.

🌿 **Choose what is good enough and aligned with your values**, rather than waiting for perfect certainty.

And remember:

**You can change your mind. You can adjust. You can learn.**

Changing direction isn't necessarily failure. Sometimes it's simply responding to new information and taking care of your future self.

💚 *Healing begins with feeling heard.*

If anxiety is making everyday decisions feel overwhelming, support is available and starts with a simple conversation.
