Congratulations Dr. Becher!

Please join us in congratulating our President-Elect Kimberly Becher, MD, and Chief Medical Officer of Community Care of West Virginia, Inc., on her appointment as Chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) inaugural Rural Health Advisory Committee!

Dr. Becher's selection to lead this national committee is a tremendous honor and a testament to her longstanding commitment to rural Family Medicine. As Chair, she will help guide the AAFP's efforts to strengthen rural health, support rural physicians, and improve access to high-quality care for communities across the nation.

As the only state located entirely within the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) region, West Virginia understands both the challenges and the strengths of rural healthcare. Dr. Becher's leadership will help ensure that the experiences of rural physicians and the communities they serve are represented as the AAFP shapes the future of rural Family Medicine.

Congratulations, Dr. Becher, on this well-deserved appointment!

The WVAFP is proud to be represented at the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) Family Medicine Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., June 14–16, 2026.

This week, family physicians from across the country are meeting with federal policymakers to advocate for stronger primary care, improved patient access, physician workforce solutions, chronic care management, and accountability in Medicare Advantage. These conversations are critical to ensuring patients, especially those in rural and underserved communities, have access to the care they need.

West Virginia’s voice matters, and WVAFP remains committed to advancing policies that support family physicians and the patients we serve.
