🍌 Banana Upside-Down Cake

Ingredients

Banana topping:

* 3 ripe bananas, sliced lengthwise or into rounds
* ½ cup brown sugar
* ¼ cup butter
* 1 tsp vanilla
* ¼ tsp cinnamon

Cake:

* 1½ cups all-purpose flour
* 1½ tsp baking powder
* ½ tsp salt
* ½ cup butter, softened
* ¾ cup granulated sugar
* 2 eggs
* 1 tsp vanilla
* ½ cup milk
* 1 ripe banana, mashed

🥄 Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Melt ¼ cup butter in a 9-inch round cake pan or cast-iron skillet.
3. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the melted butter. Add vanilla and cinnamon.
4. Arrange the sliced bananas over the brown sugar mixture.
5. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
6. In another bowl, cream the ½ cup butter and granulated sugar until fluffy.
7. Beat in eggs and vanilla, then mix in the mashed banana.
8. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix just until combined.
9. Carefully spread the batter over the bananas.
10. Bake 40–45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
11. Let cool for 5–10 minutes, then place a plate over the pan and carefully flip it over.
12. Serve warm! 🍌✨

Extra good: Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the caramel layer before adding the bananas. A scoop of vanilla ice cream on top is dangerously good. 😍
