Our long-standing partnership with Barrington Area Development Council is one of the reasons we LOVE being a part of the Barrington community! 💜
OUR IMPACT: Helping a Vision Find Its Home
BADC’s relationship with NeuroBalance Center began in 2012, when founder Joy Wagner participated in our Resource Academy—asking questions, learning from BADC Board Members and building relationships that would help support the organization’s growth.
In 2015, Joy presented her vision to the BADC Board and identified two critical needs: developing a strong board and finding a permanent home for NeuroBalance Center.
Several BADC Board Members stepped forward to help guide the organization’s strategic planning. One served first as interim Board Chair and then as permanent Board Chair through 2023.
When NeuroBalance outgrew its existing space in 2016, BADC leaders also assisted with planning and the capital campaign for a free-standing facility. Ground was broken in January 2017, and the new NeuroBalance Center opened in Barrington later that year.
Today, NeuroBalance Center provides integrated, team-based care for people living with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and other conditions affecting balance and mobility. By bringing multiple services together in one location and offering transportation support, the center reduces barriers to care and helps its members live fuller, more independent lives.
This is what community impact can look like: sharing expertise, building the right relationships and helping an important vision become a lasting local resource.
