FUN FACTS FRIDAY It’s a fact, the Patriots Tour, with the Nation of Patriots Group visited VHC Barstow! One Flag. 50 States. 115 Days. One Mission.

We are so proud to have these great patriots “pass the flag” at our Home! This event, the Patriot Tour is the ceremonial passing of one American Flag through all 50 states. The Tour spans 15,000 miles and takes 115 days to complete. The flag is transported on the back of a motorcycle.

The Patriot Tour was created to honor all of the United States military; active service, veterans, deceased, and military families. The goal of the Tour is to raise awareness for the needs of these American heroes and to gather financial support that goes directly towards helping disabled veterans and their families.

The patriots ride across America tour stops can be followed here: https://www.nationofpatriots.com/TourStops.

What a great group of people! We look forward to seeing you again next year! Be safe!

Please help me to get the word out for these great patriots, so that others can come out to support them in the mission. Please like and share to spread the word! Patriots unite, and that’s a fact!

THANK YOU, DEMPSEY’S PUB, AND HELENDALE AMERICAN LEGION! Our Helendale friends hosted an Ice Cream Social on Saturday, and boy were we in for a treat!

A variety of flavors and heaps of ice cream, toppings and smiles were handed out as we enjoyed the cold treat on a hot summer day!

Dempsey’s Pub holds an annual Chili Cook Off on November 7th. If you have not yet attended, mark your calendars, it’s a hoot! With some of the proceeds from that event, Dempsey’s takes care of our veterans all year long with a special “Dempseys Bingo”, Donuts every month, and Dempseys Christmas Angels, in addition to other special events during the year such as this one.

Spreading sprinkles of joy is their specialty and we appreciate your advocating for veterans and honoring their service to our country. Oh, and we appreciate the love!

Happy Birthday United States Coast Guard! On August 4, 1790, a proud tradition of service began, one that has endured for 236 years.

Today, we salute the brave men and women of the United States Coast Guard, past and present, who have stood the watch along our shores, protected our waterways, saved lives in the most unforgiving conditions, defended our Nation, and answered the call whenever and wherever needed.

From calm seas to raging storms, from peacetime missions to combat operations, Coast Guardsmen have lived their motto every single day: SEMPER PARATUS, ALWAYS READY.

To every Coast Guard veteran, retiree, active-duty member, reservist, and family who has sacrificed alongside them, thank you for 236 years of courage, dedication, and selfless service. 236 YEARS, ALWAYS READY for God, Country, and Service.

Happy Birthday, Coast Guard!

The United States Army Chaplain Corps is a unique part of American military tradition. Said to be among the smallest (if not THE smallest) unit in the U.S. Army, the Chaplain Corps predates Independence Day and since this unit began, chaplains have served in every American conflict.

The U.S. Army Chaplain Corps observes its anniversary every year on July 29, commemorating its establishment by the Continental Congress in 1775. The Corps recently marked its milestone 250th anniversary in 2025, celebrating over two centuries of providing spiritual guidance, counseling, and moral support to soldiers.

In honor of U.S. Army Chaplain Corps Anniversary our activities team presented a documentary for viewing and refreshments for our residents. The inside air conditioning and ice cream keeps our spirits high while we wait out this heat wave!

What are you doing to beat the heat?

CHRISTMAS IN JULY at VHC-Barstow! Nothing beats the heat of summer like a touch of Christmas magic. Many thanks to our friends from American Legion Auxiliary Units, who came from across the region; Adelanto, Apple Valley, Fontana, Newberry Springs, San Bernardino, Highland, Barstow and Kern Counties to bring our veterans a day filled with fun, laughter, reuniting with friends old and new, and so many goodies lined up for the choosing!

Santa rolled in on his dune buggy and santa suit as tables were lined up with everything you could imagine choosing from. In addition, gift cards were presented by Santa to our residents!
An opportunity to have a party, to be festive or simply have another Christmas, American Legion Auxiliary made our day magical! Witnessing so much love in the room, as we saw everyone pitching in to help veteran residents shop, examining each item, the smiles and laughter that come from making someone feel special, well there’s no word big enough to describe.

When you're little, you're always looking forward to days that are special, like Christmas, birthdays, the Fourth of July, and family gatherings. Thank you for making us a part of your family and this wonderful donation event!

Thank You Silent Watch Horizon California MC for your generous donations! Your meaningful contributions provide our veterans with essential items that truly enhance their daily comfort. Your kindness directly improves their quality of life, allowing them to enjoy these wonderful comforts and know that their service is deeply appreciated.

Silent Watch Motorcycle Club, Horizon California is an organization made up of veterans, law enforcement, first responders, and service-minded individuals who continue to serve their communities long after their time in uniform or public service.

What Silent Watch M.C., Horizon California did was not just about a donation. It was about members continuing to serve others. Their support reflects the kind of dedication that extends far beyond any single event. It’s a reminder that strong communities are built by individuals who step up, give back, and look for ways to help those around them.

Their recent Poker Run brought people together for a great cause, and we’re incredibly honored that they chose to support VHC Barstow!
