We’re hiring a Part-Time Testing Coordinator at WPA in Bartlesville for our psychologist, Dr. Spence Wilson.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying organized, working with details, and supporting patient care behind the scenes.

You’ll be helping with:
Preparing and organizing testing reports
Following up on patient paperwork
Coordinating charts and documentation
Supporting communication with patients and providers

We’re looking for someone who:
Takes pride in accuracy and attention to detail
Communicates clearly and professionally
Is comfortable following established processes
Works well independently AND as part of a team

“Keeping the peace” sounds neutral.
Mature.
Responsible.

But in dysfunctional systems,
it is never evenly distributed.

The burden always lands on the most aware person.

The one who notices patterns.
The one who senses tension before it explodes.
The one who understands what’s really happening
but is told not to “make it worse.”

Peace, in these systems, doesn’t mean safety.
It means silence.

And silence is enforced —
not on the most harmful person,
but on the most perceptive one.

You were asked to soften your truth
because it made others uncomfortable.
You were told to let things go
because naming them threatened the illusion.
You were encouraged to be “the bigger person”
because you had the emotional range to carry the weight.

That’s the quiet violence of “keeping the peace.”

It doesn’t stop harm.
It redistributes it.

The anger doesn’t disappear —
it gets stored in your body.
The injustice doesn’t resolve —
it gets internalised.
The conflict doesn’t end —
it gets buried inside the person
who was capable enough to hold it.

This is why the most aware person
is often the most exhausted.
The most anxious.
The most dissociated.

They weren’t weak.
They were over-functioning inside an unfair system.

And here’s the part most people never admit:

“Keeping the peace” protects the system —
not the people inside it.

It protects abusers from consequence.
It protects enablers from discomfort.
It protects traditions from scrutiny.

And it sacrifices the one person
who refused to go numb.

When you finally stopped absorbing the tension,
stopped translating everyone else’s emotions,
stopped carrying what wasn’t yours —

you weren’t being difficult.
You were breaking an unspoken contract.

A contract that said:
You will manage the damage quietly
so we don’t have to change.

No wonder there was backlash.
No wonder you were framed as the problem.
No wonder distance followed.

Systems that rely on silence
always punish clarity.

So if you’re grieving relationships
after choosing honesty over harmony,
this isn’t a failure.

It’s evidence of awareness.

Peace that requires self-erasure
was never peace.
It was compliance.

And walking away from that
wasn’t abandonment.

It was self-respect catching up
to what you already knew.
