Fun Fact: A 23-year-old apprentice pharmacist at Tassel's Pharmacy in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, created the first banana split in 1904. David Evans Strickler enjoyed inventing sundaes at the store's soda fountain. For only 10 cents, Strickler sold his first "banana-based triple ice cream sundae," double the cost of all the other sundaes.

Meet Mrs. Modestine! She was born and raised in Oakland, Tennessee and one of her most cherished childhood memories is
spending time with her great-grandmother. Throughout her career, Modestine worked as a cleaner and decorator. She cleaned houses, buildings, and banks and enjoyed decorating the homes she cared for. One of her favorite life memories is marrying her husband, John. Modestine enjoys cooking, baking, attending church, helping others, traveling, and learning about new places. Her favorite treat is vanilla ice cream, and she loves spiritual music-especially “Is Your All on the Altar.”
Seeing others smile always brings a smile to Modestine's face. Her advice to the younger generation is: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Be honest and careful."

We had so much fun celebrating National Root Beer Float Day!
Fun fact: Also known as the “Black Cow,” the root beer float got its start in Colorado in a mining camp. Frank J. Wisner of Cripple Creek, Colorado, gets the credit for inventing the “Black Cow” way back in August of 1893.
