When we admit a patient onto hospice services, one of the questions we ask is, "What are the Three Most Important Things we need to know about you to provide the best care?" The answers have been everything from calling them by their childhood nickname to a wish to be reunited with a family member. No matter what they are, we make a note and plan to honor one of these Three Most Important Things (TMITs) on each visit.

Every great mission has a starting point. The story of Caris Healthcare starts with Norman and Linda McRae and their vision to revolutionize how hospice care is delivered. Their goal was simple yet profound: to provide "Care with Grace" through a specialized, patient-centered approach.

In 2021, Caris began an exciting new chapter by joining National HealthCare Corporation (NHC). This partnership allowed us to maintain our unique Caris culture while leveraging the resources of a leader in senior care. Understanding our history helps our team members appreciate the legacy they carry forward every time they step into a patient's home.

Walking Through "The Long Goodbye" Together 💜🌅

Today, June 21st, is the Summer Solstice—the longest day of the year. In the healthcare and caregiver community, it holds a deeper meaning. It is a day dedicated to Alzheimer’s awareness, recognizing the strength it takes to navigate a disease often called "The Long Goodbye."

Caring for a family member with Alzheimer's or dementia is a profound, exhausting journey. But you don't have to carry it alone. Alzheimer's care is a team sport, and when you reach a point where you need extra hands, the Caris Healthcare hospice team is ready to join yours.

From specialized nurses and compassionate aides to chaplains and social workers, we wrap our arms around the entire family—managing symptoms, answering midnight questions, and offering the emotional relief you deserve. On the longest days, we are here to bring comfort, dignity, and unwavering support. 🕊️✨

As National CNA Week begins, we are honored to recognize the Certified Nursing Assistants who serve as the foundation of our daily patient care. Our CNAs provide vital, direct physical support that helps our patients maintain their dignity and comfort.

It's graduation season here at Caris Healthcare!
