Bananas and plantar warts. What do they have in common. Well nothing. When you place the little piece of banana peel put the inside of the skin towards the plantar wart. And apply at night with duct tape.

We love a positive rebrand! Turning PCOS into PMOS could make care accessible to the millions of women (statistically 1 in every 8!) who previously had to suffer through missed diagnostics and inadequate treatment.

PCOS, now PMOS, can impact hormones, metabolism, ovulation, fertility, weight regulation, nervous system health, energy levels, inflammation and histamine sensitivity, and even self confidence and mood.

Acupuncture is here to support your cycles, enhance fertility, curb inflammation, regulate your endocrine system, manage your stress, and so much more. We are here to support you through your PMOS journey and beyond! 🚀

Did you know… RICE is no longer the preferred method of healing injuries?

The RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) protocol has been the preferred method of treatment for acute musculoskeletal injuries for a long time, according to Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who first coined the term. These guidelines have been used by coaches and healthcare providers for over four decades with the intent of expediting the recovery process and reducing inflammation.

But, actually—

There is an abundance of research that actually supports the notion that ice and rest does NOT enhance the recovery process, but instead delays recovery, and may result in further damage to the tissue.

Mirkin publicly recounted his discovery in 2015, stating “Subsequent research shows that rest and ice can actually delay recovery. Mild movement helps tissue to heal faster, and the application of cold suppresses the immune responses that start and hasten recovery…Icing does help suppress pain, but athletes are usually far more interested in returning as quickly as possible to the playing field. So.. RICE is not the preferred treatment for an acute athletic injury”

TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) has known this for a long time! We are so glad Western Medicine is catching up 🥰

Ice in the first few hours of an acute angry injury if you need to, then call your acupuncturist (908-719-1362), and switch to heat! 🔥

Want to feel better? Your acupuncturist is probably going to want to see you more than once!

We need multiple acupuncture sessions as part of a treatment plan because acupuncture is ✨cumulative✨. What this means is, each session builds on the previous session to bring you closer and closer to inner balance.

You don’t go to the gym one time for a six pack so why would you go to acupuncture once for your desired outcome?

Your acupuncturist will develop a treatment plan that suits your needs for healing, likely starting with once or twice per week treatments, and expanding into more spread out treatments as they get you feeling better.

Come start your acupuncture journey or pick up where you left off!

What is Red Light Therapy and why do we love it so much at the Acupuncture Center?

We are so glad you asked! 🤗

Red light therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level wavelengths to reduce inflammation and pain, and to speed up healing time. It works by stimulating cellular energy (mitochondria) to help repair tissue and improve circulation.

It is particularly useful in pain cases for arthritis, muscle soreness, and joint stiffness. We also love it for cosmetic use- after microneedling or with cosmetic acupuncture, red light accelerates healing, reduces inflammation, and maximizes elastin and collagen production.

It’s also been studied to aid in hair regrowth, reducing acne and wrinkles, improved wound healing, and improving sleep quality and seasonal mood disorders.

What’s not to love? 😍 ask us about it at your next treatment!

Yessssss! We have had so much success with our track and field athletes!

Ice is for dead things, not living tissue trying to heal.
A sprain is not a fish on a tray.
Yes, ice can numb pain. But pain relief and tissue repair are not the same thing.
Before you automatically reach for the ice pack, ask whether you are helping recovery or just changing sensation.
