🌟 EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT — JANICE LITTLE, MA, CCC-SLP 🌟

This week, we are proud to recognize Janice Little, Speech-Language Pathologist, for the experience, compassion, and dedication she brings to our patients and rehabilitation team every day! 💙

Janice has an incredible 30 years of healthcare experience and has spent approximately 26 years with our organization. She holds a Master of Arts in Communicative Disorders and is a certified Speech-Language Pathologist.

❤️ What inspired Janice to become a therapist?
Her grandfather had Alzheimer’s disease, and watching him lose his ability to speak, eat, and swallow inspired her to pursue a career where she could help others facing similar challenges.

🗣️ What she loves most about her patients:
Janice enjoys building relationships with patients over multiple visits and celebrating their progress alongside them. Seeing therapy positively impact their daily lives is one of the most rewarding parts of her career.

🏆 A professional accomplishment she is especially proud of:
Through her years of experience, Janice has developed extensive knowledge in swallowing disorders and instrumental assessments, helping provide effective, individualized care for her patients.

💡 Her advice for patients in rehabilitation:
“Be active, patient, and dedicated to the process. Stay motivated!”

Janice also wants everyone to know that speech therapy is about so much more than speech! Speech-language pathologists address swallowing difficulties, cognitive impairments, voice disorders, communication challenges, and much more.

✨ A little more about Janice:
• Hometown: Monroe, Louisiana — now Calhoun, Louisiana
• Three words that describe her: Empathetic, Dependable & Lighthearted
• Favorite food: Pasta 🍝
• Favorite restaurant: Genusa’s
• Favorite getaway: Snow skiing in Colorado ⛷️🏔️
• Favorites: Grease, Dirty Dancing & Seinfeld
• Tea over coffee 🫖
• Early bird 🌅
• Mountains over the beach 🏔️
• Salty over sweet
• Dogs 🐾
• Fun fact: She made straight A’s in school — except for P.E.! 😄

👏 Thank you, Janice, for the many years you have dedicated to caring for patients and supporting your coworkers. Your knowledge, empathy, dependability, and lighthearted personality make a difference in the lives of those around you. We are so fortunate to have you as part of our rehabilitation family!

♿ ADAPTIVE EQUIPMENT TRAINING
Building Independence. Restoring Confidence. Improving Daily Life.

Sometimes the right tool—and the right training—can make all the difference.

In inpatient rehabilitation, our therapy team works with patients to safely use adaptive equipment that can make everyday activities easier and more independent.

Adaptive equipment training may include:

🔹 Reachers & dressing aids
🔹 Sock aids & long-handled shoehorns
🔹 Adaptive utensils for eating
🔹 Bathroom & toileting equipment
🔹 Grab bars & safety equipment
🔹 Walkers and other mobility devices
🔹 Wheelchair positioning & mobility
🔹 Equipment for bathing and grooming

Our Physical and Occupational Therapy teams provide hands-on training to help patients learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively while working toward greater independence with ADLs, transfers, mobility, and self-care.

💙 The goal isn’t simply to complete a task—it’s to help patients regain the skills and confidence to participate in everyday life as independently and safely as possible.
