You don't have to wait until someone is in crisis to make a difference.
Peer support creates a culture where first responders know they don't have to carry the weight alone. A simple conversation can help someone process a difficult call, reduce feelings of isolation, normalize talking about stress, identify concerns early, and strengthen the entire team.
Sometimes the most important question isn't about the job—it's simply:
"How are you really doing?"
This week, challenge yourself to check in with one coworker—not about work, but about them. That one conversation could mean more than you realize.
💚 Strong teams are built through connection.

AUGUST : WELLNESS AWARENESS MONTH
When we think about wellness, it's easy to focus on physical fitness—but true wellness goes much deeper.
For first responders, wellness also means:
💙 Getting enough sleep to recover
💙 Processing difficult calls instead of carrying them alone
💙 Staying connected to the people who matter most
💙 Managing stress before it turns into burnout
💙 Reaching out for support when you need it
Taking care of yourself isn't a luxury—it's part of staying healthy, resilient, and ready to serve.
👉 Which area of wellness deserves a little more attention from you this month?

What a great couple of days at our Chiefs Retreat!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring our Springdale Fire Department Chiefs together for meaningful conversations, reflection, and growth.

One of the most valuable parts of our time together was creating space for open dialogue among chief officers—sharing perspectives, learning from one another, and strengthening the leadership that supports the entire department.

Thank you to each of our chiefs for investing in yourselves, your teams, and the future of their department. Your commitment to continued growth helps build a stronger organization and a stronger community.

This weekend, we were honored to host our Spouses Peer Support Training—bringing together the incredible spouses and significant others who stand beside our first responders every day.

The first responder lifestyle comes with unique challenges, and no one should have to navigate them alone. Today is about creating meaningful connections, sharing experiences, learning practical tools, and building a community of support that extends far beyond the classroom.

Thank you to everyone who chose to invest in yourselves, your families, and one another. Your willingness to connect and support others strengthens not only your own home, but the entire first responder community.

Here's to a day of learning, encouragement, and lasting friendships!

☀️💦 What a Great Day of Family Fun! 💦☀️

This weekend, we had an incredible time at the Springdale Fire Department Summer Pool Party! It was a wonderful opportunity for firefighters and their families to relax, laugh, and make lasting memories together outside of the firehouse.

A heartfelt thank you to the Springdale Firefighters Association Local 3007for making this event possible and for your continued commitment to supporting our firefighters and their families. Your generosity and dedication help strengthen the bonds that make our department so special.

Events like these remind us that behind every firefighter is a family that serves and sacrifices alongside them. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a fun and memorable day!

❤️ Here's to community, connection, and many more moments together!

Can Hypervigilance Affect Your Health?
When we think about the demands of being a first responder, we often focus on what happens during the call. But one of the biggest challenges can begin after the call is over.
Living in a constant state of readiness can make it difficult to fully enjoy everyday moments with the people who matter most. Understanding how stress affects the nervous system isn't about making excuses—it's about recognizing that recovery is a skill that deserves the same attention as training and performance.
The more we understand these responses, the better equipped we are to support ourselves, our families, and our coworkers.
💙 Recovery protects both your mind and body.

Today we had the privilege of facilitating our Dispatch Leadership Training at Springdale Fire Department Mickey Jackson Fire Training Center.

Great dispatch supervisors do far more than manage operations—they build trust, develop people, create psychologically safe teams, and help their dispatchers thrive under pressure. Throughout the day, participants explored practical leadership strategies, including coaching and accountability, emotional regulation, navigating difficult conversations, developing new dispatchers, and creating action plans they can immediately put into practice.

Thank you to the dedicated dispatch professionals who invested in their growth today. Your commitment to becoming stronger leaders ultimately strengthens your teams, your agencies, and the communities you serve.

For first responders, the end of a shift doesn't always mean the body and brain recognize that the danger has passed. After hours—or years—of staying on high alert, your nervous system may continue operating as if another emergency is just around the corner.
That can show up at home as:
• Feeling easily frustrated or impatient
• Pulling away from family and friends
• Having trouble relaxing or "switching off"
• Living with constant tension or restlessness
These reactions aren't a sign that you care less about the people you love. More often, they're signs of a nervous system that's been working overtime.
🧠 Takeaway: Going home is automatic. Feeling safe enough to truly be home often takes intention, practice, and recovery.

We join the Centerton Police Department in honoring Captain Christopher Kelley, whose leadership, integrity, and dedication to serving his community continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.

The renaming of the street leading to the department is a meaningful tribute to a life of service and a legacy that will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts are with Captain Kelley's family, friends, and fellow officers as we honor his lasting impact.

🚔 A New Name, the Same Commitment to Serve.

A meaningful chapter has been added to the history of the Centerton Police Department as the street leading to our department has officially been renamed in honor of Captain Christopher Kelley.

Captain Kelley dedicated his career to serving the City of Centerton with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to this community. His leadership, mentorship, and lasting impact on those who served alongside him will never be forgotten.

While the name on the street has changed, it now serves as a daily reminder of a man who helped shape our department and inspired so many. We are honored to see his legacy permanently recognized in the place he served so faithfully.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in commemorating this special occasion and to all who continue to keep Captain Kelley’s memory alive.

💙 His watch may have ended, but his legacy will continue to guide us for generations to come.
