💙 Steps to Getting Therapy for Your Child
Step 5: Understanding Your Child’s Evaluation & Services

After your child completes their evaluation, the next step is learning which services they qualify for and what those services mean.
Depending on your child’s needs, they may be evaluated for one or more of the following services:

🌱 Developmental Therapy
Developmental therapy supports infants and young children who may have delays in areas such as physical development, thinking and learning, communication, social-emotional skills, and overall development. Therapy is designed to help children learn and grow through everyday activities and routines.

🗣️ Speech Therapy
Speech therapy helps children with communication, language, speech sounds, feeding, and swallowing difficulties. A Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates your child’s individual needs and helps them build the skills needed to communicate successfully.

🏃 Physical Therapy
Physical therapy helps children improve motor skills, strength, balance, coordination, mobility, and movement. Physical therapy can help children become more confident and independent in their everyday activities.

🧩 Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy helps children develop the physical, cognitive, sensory, and fine motor skills needed for everyday life. This may include skills such as playing, dressing, feeding, handwriting, and other daily activities.

📋 Understanding Your Child’s Results
Your evaluating therapist should review your child’s evaluation results and scores with you and explain their recommendations. This is a great time to ask questions and make sure you understand your child’s strengths, areas of need, and recommended services.
You are an important part of your child’s therapy team! 💜
Parents and caregivers can be involved in developing therapy goals and understanding what their child is working toward. Practicing recommended activities and goals at home can also help your child continue building skills outside of therapy.
✨ Remember: Therapy is a team effort! When families and therapists work together, children have even more opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
📞 Have questions about your child’s evaluation or recommended services? Give us a call at Pediatric Therapy, Inc. — 870-569-8120. We’re always happy to help!

🌱 First Connections🌱
We’re excited to share that Pediatric Therapy, Inc. is a First Connections therapy provider!

First Connections is Arkansas’s early intervention program for children from birth to 36 months who have developmental delays or diagnosed conditions.

✨ What does First Connections offer?
👶 Birth–3 Years: Services are available for children from birth to 36 months.
💙 No Out-of-Pocket Cost: Eligible evaluations and services are provided at no cost to families, regardless of income or insurance.
🏡 Services in Natural Environments: Therapy takes place where children naturally learn and play — such as their home, childcare, or other community settings.
🌱 Early Support: Early intervention gives children the opportunity to build important skills during a critical time of development.

At Pediatric Therapy, Inc., we believe that the earlier we identify developmental concerns and provide support, the more opportunities we can give children to learn, grow, and reach their fullest potential.
Getting started still involves the necessary steps, including a referral, prescription, and evaluation to determine your child’s needs and appropriate services.
If you have concerns about your child’s development or have questions about First Connections and how to get started, we’re here to help!
