Today I heard some familiar words: “Organic food is just a marketing ploy.”
It’s a belief I’ve heard more than once over the years, and honestly, I understand why. Food has become confusing, and there is no shortage of conflicting information telling us what we should—or shouldn’t—eat.
But here’s the thing…
Choosing organic isn’t about chasing perfection or buying into a marketing strategy. It’s about understanding where our food comes from, reducing exposure to certain synthetic pesticides when possible, supporting farming practices that prioritize soil health, and making informed choices that work for our families.
Dan and I have a family of five. Can we buy everything organic?
No way.
Does a person have to buy everything organic to be healthy?
Absolutely not.
There are incredible farmers working hard to improve agricultural practices and care for the land, yet many cannot carry the organic certification because of the financial barriers involved.
At the same time, dismissing organic altogether means overlooking the research suggesting there may be meaningful benefits—for our bodies, our food systems, and the environment.
Especially during midlife, the choices we make every day—from the foods we eat to how we care for our bodies—can have a profound impact on how we feel.
As with most things in health, it’s not about fear.
It’s about education.
It’s about informed choices.
And it’s about progress, not perfection.
That’s the foundation of everything I teach women in midlife: understanding your body, making empowered choices, and creating habits that support your vitality.
I’d love to hear your thoughts: When do you think choosing organic is really worth it?
